This @DarkScienceElectro premiere comes to us from @96 Back via the one and only @central processing uni. This Sheffield-based producer and son of a club promoter is dropping his debut LP on one of the best labels for Electro music today and, as you could imagine, it is absolute fire. The release itself certainly doesn't stay with one theme, moving quickly between ambient serenity and dance floor-aimed Electro tracks. Check out the premiere for more info.

Our next premiere looks at a new vinyl release from Dutch producer @RX-101 on the long-running Canadian label @Suction-Records

RX-101 is Erik Jong. During the early to mid ‘90s, Erik discovered Techno music, Aphex Twin, and the more experimental output of labels like Warp, Skam, and Rephlex Records. At the same time, he began to buy analog synthesizers and drum machines, a setup concentrated on those Roland X0X classics - the Juno 106, TR-808, TB-303, and his favorite, the SH-101. The discography of this artist has been single-handedly been issued by @Suction-Records and every release features music composed between 1997-1999. It’s a world of heavenly analog synth sounds, glorious, emotional melodies, and otherworldly electronic atmospheres.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is an Electro/IDM tinged journey filled with beautiful, bubbly bass lines, creative rhythm patterns and and an almost mystical melody that sweeps over you during its 5-minute run time. Absolutely remindful of the mid-nineties work of @Aphex-Twin-official while, in my opinion, being more accessible to the average listener - This release will be available on March 22nd in CD, vinyl and digital formats.

This premiere is a previous guest DJ on @DarkScienceElectro. This 22-year old Ukrainian producer goes by the name of @Theory-Of-Noise and is ready to show you what he can do in the studio with his debut Electro release on @BlindAllies

Focused on the exploration of the future sound of Electro, This China-based DJ/producer is actively playing clubs around the area and is the co-creator of the @Mynah-shanghai podcast and VOLTA events. He pumps out his scientific broken beats using only Ableton and this EP is a great example of how to use a digital audio workstation to create great music. The song selected to premiere by @DarkScienceElectro is the title track of the digital release and features 808 beats, a sustained bass line, staccato arpeggios and an eerie pad that washes over the track's 6 minute duration. This EP will drop on February 15th.

For the next @DarkScienceElectro premiere, we look to @serotonin-records with a new release from Brooklyn-based DJ/music producer who calls himself Ulysses.

When it comes to new music from Ulysses, you never know what you're going to get as his productions span across quite a few genres. An important figure in the late-‘90s Electro scene in New York, Ulysses threw some of the biggest large-scale Electro parties with legends such as Alexander Robotnick and Arthur Baker, as well as stars like I-F, Adult., and Miss Kittin & the Hacker. Over the span of his eclectic discography, this Brooklyn-based DJ and music producer has collaborated with many including John Selway in their long-running collaboration called @Neurotic-Drum-Band, who also appears on this record.

The track selected to premiere on @DarkScienceElectro is the 808-bangin' track entitled 'Shiny Destruction', which is the final track on the record. Classic Roland beats, bit-crushed percussive rhythms, a persistent bass line make this a clear stand-out in my opinion. The string pad used in the track brings it all together for this 6-minute adventure. This record will become available in February and is being distributed by Triple Vision, Complete and Clone NL.

This premiere turns our attention to the most recent @Solar_One_Music release by UK-based producer Nullptr (@bovaflux).

Hot off the tail of a successful EP by @Jensen-Interceptor, Solar One Music sub-label 'Between Places' brings some serious modular heat with a brand new offering from veteran producer Nullptr. He is involved in the Motherchip Connexion events that happen around Cambridge along with @Purplehands and @Subdermic. His professional background is in software development (specifically videogames) hence the interest in technology and name (nullptr/nullpointer being a C++ reference). @Bovaflux told me that this track was produced mostly with the sounds and sequences from his Eurorack system, backed up with a bit of JP-08, Volca Keys and Microbrute. The track brings all the random variations that you could expect from modular system use, with no two phrases sounding exactly the same. Shimmering arpeggios and a pulsing stop & go bass line provide the foreground while an atmospheric pad drones in the background creating an almost ominous tone.

This record contains 4 tracks that are all absolutely great and the entire record come highly recommended by @DarkScienceElectro

Our next premiere comes to us from someone who is no stranger to the @DarkScienceElectro show, with @DVSNME having shown support from his first release in 2010. I knew immediately that I was listening to something special in the music of Irish producer @Defekt-2. Today we take a look at a compilation of sorts from one of DeFeKTs side projects called ESS (Electronic Speech Systems).

For the third release by Australian label @InternationalChrome, bossman @Jensen-Interceptor states "Sometimes we need to revisit the past to discover the future." That’s why I am so happy to present a track from the 4-track 'Capsule Collection’. A selection of his finest works from his three only releases (as ESS) in 2011 (@newfleshrecords, @info-480-1, & AC Records) have been remastered to form an Electro tour de force.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is a little out of the ordinary as I have never premiered a '4 on the floor' track. Generally I don't venture into territory that leans Techno, however, this is a perfect example of when 4/4 bass drums are done right. This track bangs with urgency that is unmatched in most tracks that use a straight-forward drum approach. A perfect balance of interesting elements (via Drexciyan-laced synths and bass lines) to keep my head bouncing around. This vinyl will become available on the 22nd of February.

This week’s installment of @Dark Science Electro is a special artist highlight for English-born, Ireland-based producer @Cignol - It isn’t often that I dedicate an entire episode of the show to one artist (I’ve only done it 10 other times in 9 years) but this extremely talented artist deserves it. Take a listen to why Cignol is easily one of my top picks in the genre with this one-hour non-stop mix of his productions.

For our next @DarkScienceElectro premiere we take a look at the mysterious man behind the quickly-growing label calling themselves @Lunar-Orbiter-Program

Mr. Blatman is the label owner and wishes to conceal his identity for the time being. What is known about him and his production method is that all the tracks have been made with hardware and recorded directly to tape.

The track selected by @DVSNME to premiere is the title track on the vinyl release called 'Space Cowboy'. TR-808 beats and synth-generated staccato rhythms drive the song forward while an almost staggered bass line moves about a simple synth lead. There is an almost push-pull quality to the track that really resonated with me. This vinyl was released on the 21st of January and is available for purchase now at the link below:

Our next premiere comes to us from the Florida-based mastermind behind the Monotone imprint, @Exzakt. By now we all know who Exzakt is and the impact he has had on the Electro community with all his output both past and present, so I'll cut out the fluff and get right to the meat of the premiere.

This release marks Exzakt's first vinyl EP on Monotone since 2007 and is a collection of various tracks that have not been pressed on vinyl until now. These tracks were hand-selected by fans out of 17 tunes to chose from via an online poll.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere for the record is an emotional piece that you can tell from the title, Love Hate. Again, @Exzakt goes deep on this one but still keeps the beat pumping like his tracks often do. This track, for me, harkens back to the early days of Larry's work from when he helped to pioneer the Electrobass sound that has become a point of pride for Florida. This album will become available on the 28th of January.

The next @DarkScienceElectro premiere comes to us all the way from the Scandinavian shores of Oslo, Norway.

@Espen-T-Hangard has been producing music for more than 30 years and you would probably already know that if you were into Norwegian Metal, however, In the last 10 years he switched gears and now produces hardware-based Electronic music. His recently released debut album features 9 tracks drenched in analog synth goodness like TR-606, SH-101, CR-68, Jupiter 4, TB-303 and others. He told me that "Punching info into machines through convoluted and/or intuitive interfaces, emphasizing the limitations, finding quirks and weird features in different combinations of gear, etc, have all been a welcome relief from the guitar and the 'band' way of doing music."

Some of his stated influences for this record include Drexciya, @Kraftwerk-1970-1973, @DMXKrew, @depeche_mode and AFX. He has already shared the stage with the likes of @Aphex-Twin-official and @Venetian-Snares and has no plans of slowing down with plans on releasing another album in February of 2019 which was recorded in the same session as the tracks on 'Primær'. The track selected to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro stood out to me for its paranoid vibe, pulsing bass and sweeping lead. Other standout tracks from the record include the infintely funky 'Zulu Crew 85' and the acid vibes contained on the track entitled 'Off-Centre'.

For our next @Dark Science Electro premiere, we take a look a recently released compilation from Croatian label Crobot Muzik - For this premiere, I selected my favorite track from the staggering 66-track release, which was extremely difficult to do given the stiff competition. Ultimately I landed on the track by French producer @commuter. Read more on Soundcloud.

@dark science electro wants to take a moment to give thanks to all the amazing artists, labels, DJs, fans, promoters, publications, etc that made this year such a great year for @Electro music. As is true for the last 9 years, it is my distinct pleasure to help represent our genre in an effective and meaningful way. Huuuge thanks to the labels that keep me strapped up with tons of amazing music. This mix, and others like it, wouldn't be possible without all the amazing promos I get directly from labels and artists alike. My annual 'Best Of 2018' mix was just published on Soundcloud. Enjoy.

@DAS MUSTER is the alter ego of Marcus Mumm, who has been actively releasing music under this moniker since 2011. His purely analog sound is instantly recognizable for it's rich, warm, clean use of instruments like the MFB Microzwerg, MFB 522, Oberheim Matrix 6 & 1000, Roland JX-3P and many others. For this release he stays the course with his Dopplereffekt-inspired sound and presents a brand new vinyl release from mysterious newcomer label @Timeless Movement. The track selected by @Dark Science Electro is a great example of the horror-esque sound that Marcus has been producing either as DAS MUSTER or as his rarely explored 'Mumm' side-project. The song features a brooding bass line, anxiety-inducing arpeggios and his signature beat production that fans have grown to love and expect.

For our next @DarkScienceElectro premiere, I have the pleasure of debuting a full track from prolific Australian producer @Jensen-Interceptor via one of my personal favorite labels @Solar_One_Music.

Normally I would be resitant to the idea of doing a premiere for an artist that was so-recently featured (less than one month ago for his debut full-length LP), however, I feel like it is inescapable to publish premieres more often for those artists that work at such a staggering pace. Having dropped no-less-than TEN releases this year, Mikey Melas is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable artists in our genre.

With this 5-track EP on @Solar_One_Music, he presents a great collection of tracks that are, without a doubt, a gift to DJs around the world. 4 of the 5 tracks walk the line of Electro/Techno so gracefully it is almost shocking. With obvious influences from Dopplereffekt and a general nod to the aquatic sounds of Drexciya, this EP does not disappoint. The track selected by @DVSNME to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro is, in my opinion, the most Electro track on the record and it is called 'Inverse Light'. This track presents an almost horror-like atmosphere complete with de-tuned pads and chilling pulsing bass line. It is the slowest track on the record, in terms of BPM, clocking in at 120 but that won't stop you from bouncing your head along with the plucky arpeggio and fantastic snare. This record is available for preorder now.
