Listening to X-Bobo's classic "Back In Space" mix today. Respect!
@jerklin,
Dope setup! Dope dog!
"Meep" please!
Thanks in advance
The key is to (if at all possible) demo the speakers and see how they sound in your room. Play songs that you think sound amazing.
I used to have KRK V8's before I got my Focals. I always had problems with mix translation on my KRKs.
Of course, this was just my experience. A few friends picked up used Adam A7s, and they translate very well.
If you want super pumping bass etc, hook up a cheap PA in your studio for vibe, but balance your mix on something like the A7s.
Just my 5cents.
first world problem lol
I must sound like a arse. Hahahaha. Well if it helps at all, I've been working in studios since I was 15 and have been collecting for a long time.
Cheers out there in space, robots.
@Bankie Phones, Jerklin, & ProjectGenocide,
Just a case of WAY too much shit over here. Too much outboard (eqs, pres, compressors, fx etc).
Narrowed it down to the favorites. Still too much shit!
I dream of being a minimalist.
I should feel bad, but this year is about gear going out the door, not gear coming in. Am I losing my mind or something?
Had the boards for these projects since 2005 and 2008 - finally had the time and $ to finish them
NTI EQ3D - this one took more time to build because I needed to design and machine the front-panel & user-interface
SB4000 - latest version of the GSSL Compressor, with 5 different sidechain filters & switchable mono/stereo vca mode
Sneaktheif! Nice builds man! I think we talked ages ago because I had the NTI and an original grey SSL. I sold the SSL to help fund a shadow hills, but I miss it sometimes. I'm sure yours sound amazing. The NTI was very fast sounding.
Septicstudio & Freek,
Thanks! Having fun over here...
I've tried to put a stop to the gear buying, but recently I did pick up two new fun things:
Synthoma Elkorus. LOVE IT
Dewanatron Swarmatron. Number 13 out of... 13! Still getting a handle on this one.
@Dynamons: Are any places in the US carrying this? I need to grab a copy but want to see if I can avoid overseas.
Oops. Double post...
I haven't gotten mine yet, I was starting to get worried!
Dope record.
On their site it says "by popular demand."
I have to give them credit. They righted the wrong. Can't wait to get my copies in the mail!
The comp still has a lot of cool shit on it.
I also sent them an E-mail complaining about that! I guess mob rules here!
when will we get to hear a new photocall release?
Two tracks are almost done. Pretty sad for 5 years, but I guess I got caught up in day-job land. Working on vocals this weekend, so we'll see how it goes. Goal is to go to press within 2 months. Thanks for asking!
-Eli
Great release guys! Very cool!
Why haven't I been on Robots for Robots in months?
Ricky Ramjet was always one of my favorite Legowelt jams. I've played mine a ton over the years, maybe time for a fresh copy!
I can only speak for the 201 I've had for awhile. Still love it to pieces! Need to replace my tape though...
Hey Max,
Sounds great man. Congrats on the new release!
This has got to be 'official thread jacking' now. I'm gonna PM you Jay.
The 12 looks way way cooler than the 1200 no doubt. I have a re-issue 1200. traded my 909 for it at Rogue music in NY in the 90's. Would like to have that 909 around though.
The one thing I don't like about the 1200 is the noise in the high frequencies when using a kick. The filter takes out too much, so it's sort of here and there I suppose.
Got my asr-10 as well.
Pete Rock certainly pointed me towards it as well.
Great blog! Love the interviews.
Also an SP-1200 lover here, Jay. Since I saw DJ Kenny Parker using 2 of them live with BDP in 8th grade, I knew I had to have one.
