Topic: V/A - INTO THE LIGHT: A Journey Into Greek Electronic Music
ITL001 / INTO THE LIGHT: A Journey Into Greek Electronic Music, Classics & Rarities (1978-1991)
Greek electronic music has been an underground sound since the late '70s.
This collection roams over a wide radius of greek electronic music, merging disco with synth pop and new age with ambient.
'Into the Light' brings to surface a bunch of artists that never quite earned a huge commercial success, even in their own country, mostly flirting with experimentation and blurring the lines between electronic genres.
From female electronic innovator Lena Platonos, to multi-instrumentalist Akis Daoutis and (renowned composer Mikis Theodorakis's son) Giorgos Theodorakis, the compilation serves us a journey from late '70s to the early '90s of greek electronic obscurities. Rarities include a Mihalis Rakintzis' track from his early composing era (from the original soundtrack of the film 'Isovia'), Stavros Logaridis' sublime synth-prog instrumental 'Snif Snif', Vangelis Katsoulis' bleepy new age 'Improvisation', and Costas Charitodiplomenos' italo-disco 'What You Gonna Do' as 141 G.
