WHAT!!! It looks like the 90'ies threw up on it...

@Woody   Shure the JD-800 is a great synth, but to say that it is among the best is a little bit much don't you think. IMO

BTW. I have been browsing through vintagesynth.com and it seems to me that E-MU just has the worst overall looks.

In light of the resent Mopho rant, I thought : What is the worst looking synth or piece of studio equipment ever build???

Show us where you think the designer should have been shot.

Personaly I think this is close to taking the price.

Haha Erroraudio and Emu dont go well together if you ask me big_smile
But hey, mattersof taste is hard to argue... I have the Emu XL7 with the orbit soundchip onboard along with the yellow/black looks and I think it looks pretty good. But more important, its the inside and interface that make it rock!

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

Speaking of ugly gear, has anyone been in the market for a graphics card lately?

Why can't I get a good one without some World of Warcraft character on it?

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

Forat-modified MPC4000.  Wow...

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

That Forat Machine is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen! It looks like a painting that would be on the wall of some cheap ass chain restaurant like The Olive Garden!

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

lol that one looks horrible

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

@ Mono

I don't think the Moogs are ugly, maybe unaesthetic, maybe even generic but it has its charm, as for the blue leopard modular, it has to be the ugliest thing Switzerland has ever produced!

That's the Darth Vader of synths , some really powerful &  interesting sounds. Only complaint is the plastic casing , if  Roland would have done something like graphite casing that would some hotter synth action.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

@ xebeche: Spot on re. the plastic casing.
@ erroraudio: I'll rephrase that - one of the best from Roland's post Jupiter/Juno era.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

@Tony the Moog looks very uninspiring to me.

Both modulars sound great tho.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

it would be nice to build a studio consisting only of super ugly gear. see if it would alter the output.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

Nice thread eheh btw I do like the JD Vader look! Maybe a bit too big...
but the Camo Korg X50 is beautiful smile

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

Whoa...Doepfer made some Pocket Control/Fader boxes that looked very similar to the Technosaurus line.

Never noticed that until now.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

The ASR X
always hated the look... especially the pads...
but compared to the other stuff in this thread it's still pretty ok
