Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

the flying saucers on the front are nice tho. igfm should sell custom pc's.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

now that would be something else for a change. make a mini pc that only knows one task: play igfm all day (and night) long. in the shape of a u.f.o. or so. also, incorporate a gag feature or two. like a robot fart if you sit on it.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

I used to work for the Maltese distributors for Numark/Vestax (they're the same company). Not only do Numark look like shit, but their build and components are shit - abysmal actually. Fuck knows how many pissed off customers I had to deal with! Vestax used to be good, but only their PMC series deliver. Even then, their QC has dropped and they've been superseded.

Think of Numark/Vestax as the Philips of DJ gear - they might come with the innovations, but...

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

I had considered adding the OB12 to the list.  Something about all that blue.  The fact that it looks like the default SynthEdit skin doesn't help either.

I think the E-mu Proteus MPS from the early 90's should be on the list.  Reminds me a bit of the Yamaha YS thing that Brian Chinetti had mentioned:

I got a pair of PDX-2000's - I've had them for about 7 years and love 'em; never had a problem with them.

Although my favourite innovation is the fact that rather than having a pre-connected RCA and earth cables coming out the back, they have RCA sockets and a little screw with a bolt for the earth cable.

They are a but ugly now though. I thought they looked okay when I bought them. But maybe that is the thing about mediocre design. It soon seems out of date. Technics still look cool in comparison.
