Re: Berlin

@ narcisco

was in that shop last week too with ice & overdose. what a surprise, the guy was smiling and even okay (to me) - I think we had the luck that ice was with us, he likes to chat to beautiful women big_smile
found some good records there, library stuff and soundtracks

Re: Berlin

There are some nice records I think. Haven't bought anything there but 2  1-euro records because of my budget. I have been there when he wasn't there. There was some girl working who was pretty kind.

Re: Berlin

I already visited a lot of recordstores (around 20 I think), but I wondered if there's any that sells Minimal Wave releases? Haven't seen it yet.
Recordstore tips in general are always welcome, also 2nd handstores or whatever.

if you mean the label MW, no - as I know there are no shops (in Berlin) with their stuff (drehmoment sold some at the time...) - you must know, it is not really cheap to order the stuff in the US as shop since they give no wholesale prices/discounts and if I am right MW works without distribution in EU, so you can find only a few releases in the net shops like Juno, Clone... costs are way to high, thats a simple reason. AND - this is kinda specialists music, these guys in the shops never heard of MW. there are shops they even never heard of Creme, Bunker and rel. stuff wink
BUT, you can find tons of Minimal lol in Berlin hehe

I meant the label indeed.  In Amsterdam some MW stuff is old at Rush Hour records, but it's not cheap indeed. I have to order some stuff then I guess. Thanks for your answer!

Re: Berlin

@ narcisco
bought the stereo and linear movement lps at www.indietective.de
i think they were each around 25 euro, that's okay... plus for orders that are higher than 50 euro the shipping within germany is for free.
and the shipping costs to foreign countries aren't that high either. to buy the vinyl directly at mw is of course much cheaper.
but i remember mw shipping was super expensive...

Re: Berlin

@ Qob

I think he knows where to buy in the net, or directly from MW. don`t you think it is sometimes helpful to go in a shop, listen to the records (not the snippets at online shops) carefully and then decide to buy, esp. if the records are expensive. the prices for MW records in europe are def not `okay` wink
narcisco asked for recordshops, and wondered that MW is not available somewhere in the Berlin stores. I told him a possible reason. There are some shops reading here. May in the future we can find some stuff in our little big village too.

@ narcisco - did you tried OYE records in Oderberger? sure. Just mention it because it is my fav shop with new releases nowadays.
some VOD records available in Vopo records on Danziger Str. (not far from Oderberger).
The guys at Freak Out in Prenzlauer Allee sux, but check the

"I think he knows where to buy in the net, or directly from MW."
-> oh, he probably does... no doubt! i just wanted to tell him where to get the mw stuff relatively "cheap" (compared to other online stores).

"don`t you think it is sometimes helpful to go in a shop, listen to the records (not the snippets at online shops) carefully and then decide to buy, esp. if the records are expensive."
-> of course it is. but if there are no record shops that have the stuff you want you have to buy it online.
i guess here in stuttgart it's even worse compared to berlin... the only record shops that i go to here are the 2nd hand ones.

"the prices for MW records in europe are def not `okay`;)"
-> i know (the stereo lp for ex is around 15 euro if you buy it directly from mw). but i was refering to the online shop we bought the mw stuff.
shipping was for free and so in the end it was cheaper to buy them there instead of ordering them directly because of the high shipping costs, you know?

Re: Berlin

Calling all Berlin robots...

I'm coming over to my 'home away from home' at last...it's been 2 years since my last visit!
Would love to meet you lot in the flesh between the 07-14.05.09. Drop me an e-mail, and I'll send you my Handynr.

Might throw a gig at Delicious Doughnuts within that week too...yep, I know it's a shithole to most of you, but me and Peter are close pals, so... Problem is, I lost his number, and the last time I checked the DD website, there were no dates posted - fingers crossed! Alternatively, any gig offers will be much appreciated!

Re: Berlin

Cool - Cheers!
I'll be in touch...

Re: Berlin

Update - talked to DD's Peter, but he had already drawn up the rota for May, so I missed out on a gig. sad
I'll still be bringing my laptop over, just in case something comes up out of nowhere...

Re: Berlin

@ Queen Of Blood
Thanks for the tip, I didn't know this mailorder. I might order it there, I'll check MW as well.

@ Captain Duran
Thanks! I think I've been to all shops you mentioned except Freak Out in Prenzlauer Allee. Will check it out soon I guess. Spacehall is nice indeed, it's very close to where I live. The fleamarkets are great indeed, Boxhagenerplatz is the one I visited most til now. Found nice stuff there, not always cheap but at least fair.

Re: Berlin

This might be my last post before I fly.
If anyone wants to meet up, drop me an e-mail and I'll get in touch ASAP.

See ya!

Re: Berlin

Just arrived!

Landed for the first time at Schonefeld, and it was a nightmare from when I landed. Took the bus to Hermannstr. thinking that it wold be more convenient than stopping at Rudow to catch the U-Bahn...bad decision - that bus takes ages to arrive at Hermannstr.!

To make matters worse, my Handy went kaputt because T-Mobile UK said I have to pay GBP250 deposit for roaming abroad as my contract has been on for less than 3 months - what a load of bullshit! So I've been told to pick up an Aldi account, as it's shit cheap. Can anyone give me more details about this?

I'll be online here for the next hour and a half, so e-mail me and I'll give you a landline you can temporarily contact me on.
Hear from you lot soon!

Re: Berlin

Sorted out a new mobile no. - you ask for it, you get it + a visit too!

Re: Berlin

Hallo Roboter,

Somewhere in august or early september my gf and me are looking to go to Berlin for a long weekend. Are there any events in that period worth going for?

Danke!
