I've got a SPL Vitalizer II between the tape and computer

yeah, I only wish I had that luxuary. I'll just stick with the star trek method.

this has been a very informative thread. I think I leap frogged everyone in my city by twenty years.

Re: mastering query

Let me just add here my rant that I'm seeing way too many producer-turned-mastering engineer wannabe out there after they've put out a handful of releases. (Not talking about anyone here though. wink )

Do it your way, because everyone else is just weird.

Re: mastering query

Victor, make sure you get/have the best reference monitors for your budget and make sure your room is well-behaved. Every room has a tendency to amplify certain frequencies so you probably need some room treatment since it seems that something's currently throwing off your mix perception. Poor monitors are also a big cause for poor mixes. For example, if the certain speaker/monitor you're using doesn't output enough detail in the upper mids you will most likely turn up/eq your elements til they sound "right" in the studio. But when you take them to a playback system that has a good representation of that frequency range you'll find that it may sound harsh and too bright.

Do it your way, because everyone else is just weird.

Re: mastering query

probably my monitors are a shit.
