Topic: Holland

Well, I have never posted here before, but I have in the past on CBS a few times. I do love most of the music that is the common thread of this forum so I do read often. Anyway, I will be arriving in Amsterdam on the 25th and leaving the 30th, and would love to hear some great robot music. I am being a huge procrastinator as usual so I haven't booked any hotels/ hostels yet, so my dates are open, and I am interested in checking out the Hague especially Utrecht. Just wondering if any parties are going on during those dates and/or if anyone would be interested in meeting up for a pint or whatever to maybe point me in the right direction of where to go. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Holland

You are just missing a blast of a party on the 21st. Not sure if there is anything robot going on in mentioned period.

Edit: nice website you got btw.

Re: Holland

Damn that sucks. Well is there anyplace you can suggest that has good weekly event? I'm thinking of heading to the Hague on  saturday, but will be in Amsterdam definitely Wednesday  through  Friday.

Thanks about the website. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who was learning flash build it for me for free.

Re: Holland

Some bots from this forum are playing in the Flexbar on 28th, pretty cool venue. Might go there.

Re: Holland

RushHour & Distortion are two recordshops that are worth a visit .. if you're into buying records ..

Re: Holland

Man I should of planned this trip better, I guess thats what I get for buying nonrefundable tickets late at night after a few too many beers. I will definitely check out the record shops. I was thinking of heading out of Amsterdam on saturday to avoid expensive hostels and an excuse to go to Utrecht. Anything on Fridays in Amsterdam or Saturdays in Utrecht? Also I plan on  going to the Van Gogh museum and the Rembrandt house, any other attractions/museums  that are must see? Not necessarily as touristy as those.

Re: Holland

I'd say Utrecht is worth a visit.
Historic city centre with canals and typical "werf-kelders" (storage basements), the Dom Tower. Plenty of museums and small enough to be able to walk from one site to the next. Tourist info is right next to the Dom tower. Utrecht is not at all like amsterdam with loads of annoying tourists.
Like mr. Max said, nothing real exiting for partying that period. And no FC Utrecht game that weekend...
Check wikipedia for a list of museums.

Re: Holland

Thanks Bluebot. Any suggestions on where to go there on a Saturday night? I figure finding out about museums ect. is the easy part, but even finding a nice pub that plays good music and has a nice atmosphere is something that requires someone who knows the city. I like to have a few beers, but don't want to be surrounded by yuppies or hooligans, although when put in those situations it can be it's own type of  adventure.

Re: Holland

Re: Holland

You could check out this site. More housy, techno gigs listed though:

Some squat events:

There is probably some illegal action going on too, but don't know any parties just yet.

Re: Holland

Be sure to go to the van Gogh museum on a weekdays morning (as early as possible), otherwise you will be in line with 100's of tourists.

Re: Holland

This is great thanks for all of the replies. Should be a busy trip!

The info on the Van Gogh museum is huge.  I can't stand a packed museum. I haven't been to the Metropolitan museum here in ages because the only days I have off to go are on the weekend.

In the process of going through the links now. How are those Rockit Parties in Utrecht? It says the Advent is playing the night I go there.

Thanks Queen of Blood, As I'm on a budget the cheap eats are essential.

A pretty decent guide to more interesting and eclectic Amsterdam places can be found here:

My favorite place to get lunch is here:

This squat/cultural center place has interesting stuff going on, including parties:

have fun! Watch out for pickpockets man, they are fast and stealthy over there.

Re: Holland

I think there is Nacho Patrol live in Paradiso on friday...

Re: Holland

hehe I used to work there a long time ago, I've even been right up to the saucer back then. It is real easy to get there, if you know how ofcourse. When you leave the train station in the direction of the city centre (where the lower number platforms are) walk a bit further past the snackbar, go to the right down the stairs to the regional (streek) bus station. When you're down there walk straight on past all the buses and you should see a small park with the building just behind it. From there I think it's on the left side.
