Hello bots,
Rocorded this last week on friends request. Perfect for the spring mood - soviet lovesongs with funky groovy arrangements. No beatmixing, just a selection of favourite songs from ole dusty records. Enjoy

nice one, that'd be sweet!
Z.A. did a cassette release in 1986, with tracks 'ia lechu, kak meteor', 'snezhnii chelovek' & 'ushla liubov, sostav'...i only heard the 1st two tracks on a compilation someone played me last year...synth pop, italo-esque sounds...all i know otherwise is that Andrei Litiagin composed the tracks, and that the singers from Mirazh sang on them. the only link i found to MP3s is a 404, i'm afraid...

found nothing substantial on Зона Активности so far, thanks for the tip, will keep an eye on that name.

Are there any covers?

Obi1r - you mean cover-versions of stevie wonder and stuff in the mix? (the answer is no) or LP coverart? (tracks from the mix - posted what I could on them on discogs; Forum http://batzbatz.com/uploads/posts/1183116420_forum.jpg and Zona Aktivnosti - I think it was cassette or real to real tape with no cover art)
Tottieheid - thanks, you're welcome for a beer and maybe listen to some records when you're in Minsk ![]()

hehe, they're pretty much rare gems. Mind you, there were no "funk artists" or "disco artists". If you lookup the names, these same bands and singers mostly produced loads and loads of shit - pop music of its time. In a typical situation, you get an album, or a compilation with one or two standout tracks. Also, any kind of sexiness and grooviness was pretty much considered politically wrong, so you don't get that many artists trying to go that way.

word to that...the first 'Melodiia' pop vinyl that i ever got my hands on was precisely as you say, nondescript but catchy, maybe even charming in places, pop music...'Nash Adres - Sovetskii Soiuz'...but it wasn't until travelling to Russia & tuning into a Kazan 'nostalgiia' radio station that i ever hear funk or disco orientated shit. i still really hope to dig for some vinyl here, even though most Russian friends say it's almost impossible...i've decided to ignore them
, & take my optimism as far as it can go, through fleamarkets & junk shops
