And norbert is a moraalridder that hits on open doors, mechanisms that apply to EVERY 'fashionable' music of any particular moment.

cosmic hipsters!! they are the shortsighted bankers of the musical world!!
Sounds more like frustration and personal spite 'masking' as a crusade against shallowness.

actually I lost my interest a bit in the genre around the time 'cosmic' resonated all over the CBS and the hype started (around 5 years ago). We never ever used that name for the music. But other than trying to be funny I dont think you really understood my point...
loudE & tako got frustrated mainly because people demanded to know what they played, and once it was in the open, everybody on the CBS claimed they already knew it 10 yrs ago. People sometimes seem to have a hard time putting cause and effect in a proper order.

If the colonel really had some balls he would at least be more specific: is he pissing on the music as a whole, and the people who pushed the music that happened to get that name, or just the hipster followers that could be seen in every other scene. i have the idea it's mainly the former, with the latter dragged in to complete the charicature.

I understand the frustration with the (seemingly mainly british?) people that seem to bootleg one release after another, hyping it till prices rocket out of the orbit, but thats life people. After the italo hype we had the cosmic hype. Soon there will be yet another and you the real fans can be relieved that prices return to somewhat normal.

Re: Unveil the Secrets

I'm not trying to be an azijnpisser here. This thread is a good thing! I can learn a thing or two and might regain my interest a bit further :-)

But the colonel is just ranting. Fun to read but the pseudonym is there for a reason, thass all i'm sayin.

they're playing songs that were already played by disco djs in 70s and 80s, so they aren't first.

bias has a point in that the dj's that are ''rediscovering'' old stuff are not the first ones to play it.. i remember hearing cosmic mixes for the first time years ago that had a lot of stuff in it that i knew, only pitched and mixed in different ways than i heard before.. its kind of silly to discover an old record thats really good, and assume no one has ever known about it before..

Re: Unveil the Secrets

So....how come dj hell got blasted around the CBS for playing "I-F"'s tracks?

i dont recall I-F giving out all his playlists in the early days he started playing italo again. People had to search and search and search to know the songs, me included.

double standards is all I'm saying.

Re: Unveil the Secrets

And on another note: some of those songs were indeed forgotten. Of course, some dj played it sometime long ago, and some remote dj might even play it still in his local baya beach club. But to bring knowledge into the network again is an entirely different matter. I-f did it for italo, and some djs did it for what is now called cosmic.

So the natural reaction to that is to bootleg some tracks and put them out with their name as the artists and fake track titles? The orginal artists don't even get a measly credit for what they created, nevermind the whole money issue. I think Loud-E/Tako mixes are great enough to speak for themselves without all the extra fluff of bootlegs/edits.

I can't speak for the colonel but I would say he is pointing out what everyone knows, but hardly talks about. I assume he remains anonymous lest "the scene" takes offence to his writing. Would knowing his name make his points any more valid?

I think when you are being blasted for withholding information the facts speak for themselves. I'm not speaking for them,  and afaik they didnt claim anything. I'm just saying there is an online vampire community claiming certain things. I google, therefore I am.

Re: Unveil the Secrets

sorry for the thread derail though, new cosmic secret treasures are welcome to this little vampire.

i definately agree sharing is better than withholding, but let's not make negative charicatures of people that did a lot for this music. you could always ask them personally, and when a song remained unknown, it usually was one of the dozens of mashups they had lying around.
