the opening track is fucking awesome...

like total recall club music,

Re: early goa trance

the last song in part 8 is good. the last 3 episodes the music gets good.. there is even some new beat sounding stuff.

there are a few trainspotters in the comments.. one track that gets listed is 60 bucks on discogs. i am gonna find that shit. i never even heard of this stuff. it is like eurodropbass style or i dont even know how to describe it. more developed and intricate acid?

how did they make this shit? with those tx racks and some midi sequences and a sampler? i for sure hear a 909 and 303.. i think.. and then maybe those later rolands? i dunno..

i really hope we have an expert here.

i think stentec also knows a bit, and might still have some items for sale (if he didn't sell them all)

Its just  trance/rave techno from that era, there wasn't that of a big divide in those days, even UR - Final Frontier or Unit Moebius would be considered trance. A lot of music in those youtube's isn't goa trance but just plain early 90s rave techno.

You might check out early Rising High records http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuxt_nUODEI and stuff on R&S records

They just used romplers Korg M1, Roland JX1 etc with the usual roland analog stuff

One of those tracks reminded me of Power of American Natives maybe it was a remix of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wumr8rX5Qjg hehe I really like that song except for the basedrum (which they started using in almost all goa psycho trance or whatever its called later on...you get deaf quickly from that thup sound)

excactly what I tought as well, some stuff from the clips sound more like acidtechno. And the german and Belgium labels D mentioned are not goa labels but released a lot of stuff you might like. Also check Labworks and Re-Load..
On of my favourites is: http://www.discogs.com/Source-Source-EP/release/31034

but to be honest; after more than a few records of goa(trance) I quickly want the acid again wink

yeah i used to have the original release of the power of american natives, sold it a long time ago. it is quite a nice song, but it was indeed the template for the high pitched tr909 horror eurokick goa bassdrum. imagine people modifying their 909 to get this kick ?!?

You should get this album from Mixmaster morris its really good, also on heavy rotation of IFM3 Its more ambient though, that guy was like the dr.Phil of Ambient trance in the early 90s on MTV

Re: early goa trance

a lot of sh-101 and 202 action in early goa trance. smile

don't know about calling this trance, but this was like my "record of the year" back then. MM finest moment!

@freek
Source ep is great but it's more in debt to early AFX circa Analogue Bubblebath then trance

the Goa sort of trance started after the trance Smacko mentions and while labels like fax,Frankfurt Beat,Rising High
Fnac,Bonzai etc were trancey. it was really Dragonfly that started it all (well Juno Reactor, Blue Room,Flying Rhino,
Transient,POF,Matsuri,Phantasm & Psy Harmonics here) were quick to follow

I kind of liked it at the first 5-6 month but then it all went downhill
best act imo were some italian guys that use to release stuff under the Pleiadians/Ethnica guise

'Sing while you may - lullabies for the new dark ages'

mmm, I always considered it as some kind of goa-related sound, def not like the early AFX stuff (altough it has some kind of industrial sound/elements)

but maybe the only thing I know about Goa is that its not really my cup-of-tea wink

Re: early goa trance

I knew a guy in 92/93 that was a huge Goa head (from an upper middle class family, trust fund, dreadlocks

Re: early goa trance

Is 90-93 Goa pre-trance the new Cosmic by the way?

I might have to invest in some records - and start a night up before that lot in London catch on... wink
