Re: R.i.p.

damn, i didn't even know about marc moulin.. rip. i guess reading a newspaper in the US that has 200 pages but one page for ''rest of the world'' isn't the best way to stay informed..

but also rip for herr heider.. you can disagree with his views, but he was a democratically elected politician, and represented apparently the views of a (pretty big) part of the population... and a car crash is a horrible way to go, doesn't matter who you are..

Re: R.i.p.

@rude
maybe he was voted democtatically..but hitler was too. and haider was NOT a demcrat. he was a 100% nazi.

wikipedia knows
Haider made statements that seemed to imply support for some ideas of National Socialism. His first stint as governor in 1989 ended abruptly when he praised the employment policies of Nazi Germany and was forced to resign.[21] A few years later, he described World War II concentration camps as "punishment camps" and said the SS were "a part of the German army which should be honoured".[22] He also compared the deportation of Jews by the Nazis to the expulsion of Sudeten Germans from Czechoslovakia after World War II.[23] He associated publicly with Waffen-SS veterans, including attending at least one major remembrance ceremony.[24] On one occasion, he insulted Ariel Muzicant by producing the pun that he did not understand how someone named Ariel (also the name of a popular laundry detergent) could have gathered so much filth, implying the real estate agent's business methods were crooked.[25] Haider's critics claimed the remark was anti-Semitic.[25]

Re: R.i.p.

i'd like to hi-officially protest against any kind of obit in case of questionable persons like hr. haider in MY thread.
it has been opened by me and i won't accept further violation of rules like "no r.i.p. for hr. haider, hr. hitler or hr. himmler on their day of death". (;))

Re: R.i.p.

any conspiracy behind Haider death?
he drove his car alone, late at night and suddenly lost control.

Re: R.i.p.

there is something very very wrong with people expressing their relief over someone's death in a car crash, and i find it sad, dull, and painfully immature (to say the least) to find such comments here.

just to make that clear: yes, there have been plenty of reasons to be opposed to that person, and also some reasons to be alert and highly discomforted.

i don't think this is the right place to discuss this (was the wrong topic to post to in the first place, this topic was clearly about admired people, heroes passing away, not just a news topic on who died today), though i just have to add those 2 points:

1. relief over someone's death is some rather serious personality issue, no matter to what extent you are opposed to that person; and

2. clearly there are many whose sole source of information on the issue is cheap yellow press, which in order to have "attractive" headlines reduces everything to black and white. it's just sickening to see that those crap media have a manipulation effect on people that goes that far that people wish death on someone they actually have not the slightest clue about.

Re: R.i.p.

When someone carries a traumatic experience, you can't expect rationality all the time when one of the sources of that trauma ends up in a coffin. It's left to the people who DIDN'T GO THROUGH THAT SAME TRAUMA to preach about personality issues and other PC bullshit from the comfort of their armchairs and keyboards.

Once again I apologise if anyone feels offended, but you gotta understand - Haider always touched a raw nerve here...
This is the end of the discussion from my part.

Re: R.i.p.

@elec:
i know hitler was also democratically voted in. although those times were a little different, you have to ask yourself what the circumstances were/ are that people will vote for these kind of guys. my point was that by just ignoring modern day extreme right politicians and saying they're nazis, you disregard a part of the population that, for whatever reason, vote for them. and ignoring and denying the problem doesn't make it go away. but let's not start that discussion here..

@woody:
that sounds like a bad experience, though i think with ''auslander'' they don't really mean the english/ maltese.. big_smile but its true that often the ones who go through something traumatic can't really look at a situation objectively anymore.

thats not to say i won't mourn more about the demise of creative geniuses like rick wright or marc moulin..

Re: R.i.p.

that whole statement got no logic.
what press would wish death to anybody? so, what media could manipulate one in that direction.
you should accept there are different views out there, and opposite views are not necessary media manipulation or
based on dumbness, as you show it

>>.. on someone they actually have not the slightest clue about.

how can you know? at least nazis that seek for extirpation of others cannot expect to deserve any respect -
neither for behavior nor their pitiful existence in general

..sounds weird man

...not happy about somebodys death at all...just as mentioned in the first place: no major loss..haider put himself in a position where you cannot demand blandness

...why should this topic only be for honorable people (whoever those are)...anyway controversy and dialectics`good
