Don't you mean libean, like from Lybia, it sounds more north african there is a lot of stuff from the early 80s sounding like this track from algeria etc. demo tapes from Khaled like ghetto rai music made on cheap synth and TR808's.

yea, seriously?
yeah there was a lot of that around, i also got intrested in Khaled and even more so Cheb Mami(sp?) after they
were on a Subrosa compilation in 1988 with Current 93 and Coil (the tracks on that Myth 4 comp were amazing!)
I had a few lp's that I bought, one of which by Khaled was all 808 stuff(his face on the cover with his name in big
blue letters on top)that particular lp was sampled by Beltram as well as one of the tracks on a Beyond ambient dub
comp. It's all very intresting if you can take the vocals(personaly I can't, so I gave these away to someone,,,)
there was also a Dutch label that were doing real quality compilations of world music, and had a good one with rai
stuff. and a suffi music one that used to get a regular play on radio 100. and even vpro had a program exploring
that sort of stuff at the time.

The most famous producer in this genre was the great Rachid Babi Ahmed who was murdered (like many other performers in that genre) by fundamentalist goatfucker islamic hatebeards because this music was progressive or something.

I know who did the record but I promised not to tell. The Tanki Tanki its not just an edit, the mysterious artist behind it 
added also some new sounds to it. There are some good points in this thread, just put one and one together and you`ll get the answer.

I will just play a lot of algerian stuff (also electronic) but I don't know if this tanki tanki is from there, it could also come from Syria/Lebanon/Israel/Jordania or something. I have no idea what it is. Anyways a lot of these cosmic dudes would piss their pants ; p
