Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

Im a huge fan of Sega, Ive always been more of a Sega person than atari, or nintendo.  I used to go down the arcade to play Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Shinobi, R-Type every night, then the master came out and i could play them at home, i just thought it was nuts!
Bit gutted sold my Master System after i got the Megadrive, still got the Megadrive tho, hopefully still in the box too, gonna grab it from my parents in 2 weeks cant wait! been thinking of it all yr no wmy girlfriends playing her wii, i hate new computer games.
Nice a mention of Psycho Fox that was one my favourites on the master. Also Outrun, i loved the simplicity of the outrun conversion was so much fun, Hang On also, Dead Angle, Thunder Blade, California Games, After Burner, Dick Tracy, Spiderman, Spy vs spy, Rampage!

Yeah Galaxy Force! i loved the graphics in that so much, really quite advanced.
I was a big Sonic fan too on the Megadrive. Eswat, Alien Storm, Two Crude Dudes, again they were games i was playing in the arcade then i could play at home, oh Toe Jam and Earl now that was a stupid fun game, really fun play with yur mates.

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

Ah Spy vs Spy that was classic - the only one I had on data card not cartridge.

I think my master system had Hang On and Safari Hunt built in, had no idea there was a game built into the BIOS, how did you access it?!!?

and that light gun with Safari Hunt - I remember hilarious days of winning the game by literally holding the gun against the screen. you couldn't lose... smile

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

haha my uncle had the built in alex the kid. ROCKIN!

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

I had Star wars, the empire strikes back where you had to shoot these AT-AT, was also possible to fly a wire around the feet and destroy them... great game!

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

There's a couple of italo tunes I love mainly because they remind me of the music from the underwater bit in alex kid... smile

Never had a Star Wars game on a Sega, but I remember Nintendo doing one. There were some rip-off games on the BBC Micro before that like Trench ("Can you fly your X-Craft into the Termination Planet???"), but basically had to wait for PCs to catch up. Anyway how about some flight-based Sega pix:

Choplifter:

OK not on a Sega but the cassette cover for Trench! Look familar? smile

Sonic and Eswat were 2 of my favourites as well, and definitely Choplifter - harrrd game!!! but so addictive (and strangely satisfying when you dropped the helicopter on civilians by mistake!!)

Those cartridge boxes are so classic...

I always wanted the cartridge of Transformers but could never find it... think it might have only been on data-card?

Re: Sega Master-System/Megadrive

Yeah never played on a megacd, but it was developed by Sega with Sony's help on the CD drive. They parted ways afterwards, and Sony made their own version of it - the Playstation of course.

So on that note, aside from the emulator route there's an Ultimate Mega Drive compilation for PS3 - it's a big list although there's still a few missing (apparently though more games can be unlocked):

# Alex Kidd In The Enchanted Castle
# Alien Storm
# Altered Beast
# Beyond Oasis
# Bonanza Bros.
# Columns
# Comix Zone
# Decap Attack starring Chuck D. Head
# Dr. Robotnik's MBM
# Dynamite Headdy
# Ecco The Dolphin
# Ecco II: The Tides Of Time
# E-Swat
# Fatal Labyrinth
# Flicky
# Gain Ground
# Golden Axe I
# Golden Axe II
# Golden Axe III
# Kid Chameleon
# Phantasy Star II
# Phantasy Star III: Generations Of Doom
# Phantasy Star IV: The End Of The Millennium
# Ristar
# Shining In The Darkness
# Shining Force
# Shining Force 2
# Shinobi III: Return Of The Ninja Master
# Sonic 3D Blast
# Sonic And Knuckles
# Sonic Spinball
# Sonic The Hedgehog
# Sonic The Hedgehog 2
# Sonic The Hedgehog 3
# Streets Of Rage
# Streets Of Rage 2
# Streets Of Rage 3
# Super Thunder Blade
# Vectorman
# Vectorman 2
