From the Jackson 5 to Dangerous (1969-1991)

yep, those records definitely rocked many of nights and shook much ass on the dancefloor!

I hope the media lets him rest in peace. (but it looks like all ethics of journalistic respect for the dead went right out the window)

I only remember the good about him. Much Love to MJ!

Re: RIP michael jackson

sad, sad news, but maybe this was the best that could happen to him. he's lost touch with any sense of reality so long ago and has been hunted by everyone, especially the media (as funkbox puts it quite correctly) for too long.

his musical heritage will live a long life, this is what makes him immortal.

may he rest in peace.

Re: RIP michael jackson

First he was a Superstar for decades
Then his stardom got smaller and everyone (/media?) seemed to think he was just becoming weirder and weirder
But personally my respect for him has grown in recent years as I have become more and more aware of his not so easy life.
Some may still think he's a wacko jacko but you can't deny his genious as an artist.
I have felt sorry for the way his life has developed lately, he would have deserved a better end.

Respect, RIP.

Becoming a true Myth now..
We can hope for some Zombification I guess
Respekt & RIP

Re: RIP michael jackson

over the last 15-20 years his mental & physical health spiralled down...when i heard about those last gigs he was supposed to perform i instantly thought there was no-way they were gonna happen, he was just way too frail. My guess is these last shows could have been embarrassing for an already broken man, maybe it's best he is finally at peace now.

Re: RIP michael jackson

end of an era, although much of the credits of the tracks go to ,for instance, Quincy Jones for producing andso etc...

I really like the old stuff from him (jackson 5 and thriller etc) A legendary performer who was victim of his suroundings, money, press and, not in the least, family.

RIP michael,  travel safe and sound

Indeed. He simply was never able to enjoy the things in life you can`t buy: love, peace, rest, ... The media and certainly his family too made his life impossible. He could never enjoy his childhoodyears like another child can. Nobody gave him time to breath, to relax or to enjoy life, they were constantly hunting him. And you`ll see that those same people will tell in the media that they are shocked etc, pfff.

I remember a televisionprogram where he paid a lot of money to a supermarket just to be able to do his shopping like a normal human being and he was happy as a child, that says a lot. Well, the fact this was filmed means even then he was followed by the media :s

Rest in peace Michael, you deserve it.

Re: RIP michael jackson

news are not really that shocking to me. sure he was a living legend and will remain a musical icon, his musical legacy and influence will live on forever. but its almost more a relief, a tormented and much too sad soul finally found its peace. im more sad about the life he had to live than about his death. may he rest in peace.

I think he achieved the ultimate musical succes with his Thriller album; it was a huge commercial succes AND fantastic music.
