Jacderida, how are those atheistic books?
I always find Richard Dawkins a bit annoying. It seems to me he's as much a fundamentalist/extremist in his anti-religious views as those he criticises are in their religious views.
my favorite is "the portable atheist" really comprehensive and it has essays from all sorts of people
right now im reading Epictetus discourses 1 and 2. really cool but these guys insist on providence where im sure its pure chaos!

I'd agree that he can come across as very arrogant (and actually he is quite clearly an arrogant person), but I wouldn't say that he could be said to be extremist in any way, certainly not compared to a religious extremist. (When was the last time we saw him ready to strap a bomb to himself and walk into a church with it?) I think he just comes across as 'extremist' because trying to criticise or challenge people on their faith is still such a taboo issue, and he just goes about it in such a direct way.
I much prefer Hitchens, Sam Harris and Daniel Dennett to him anyway.
