Topic: wav browser for mac?

Can anyone recommend a (preferably free) program for the mac to browse wav samples without adding them to itunes?
audacity doesnt have a preview/audition button, im trying to go through samples to put onto an sd card for MPC and at the moment its a very slow process

edit: nevermind smile Was gonna reccomend Audicity, but you already tried that.
I don't work with wav that much so I never tried it, but can't you just prelisten wav files in Finder, like you can do with most files when you are in column view?

open the finder, select one sample and right-click on it. you should see a submenue with an entry like "

Re: wav browser for mac?

Yeah which osx version are you on?  on 10.5 you click to select and then hit space bar and you get a preview ... hit space bar again and the preview goes away ... no programs needed.

Not free ($79), but Snapper from AudioEase looks like a pretty slick implementation of an audio file browser...

Yeah i use it also, its now even possible to highlight a .Avi and a audiowaveform overview pops up, select the phrase you want from it, copy and paste it on your desktop and ready for loading int your daw or sampler.

Re: wav browser for mac?

8, what about the Finder with QuickLook? (what some suggested already)
just select the file and hit the spacebar. Plays instantly without opening any applications.

you gotta have OSX 10.5 at least (Leopard)

that Snapper add-on is nice. bit pricey though

Re: wav browser for mac?

^ to follow up  on Phuture's point, once you enter quick look by hitting space on anything, you can cycle through samples or files by using the arrow keys to preview on the fly, you don't have to hit space bar for every single file.

Re: wav browser for mac?

Just use the OS file browser  roll
