Damn this game was soooo good.. i was always humans because of my xenophobia.. the nice ambient music was cool.. I remember also liking the game cause it came with a big FAT manual where I could study the other races and technologies.. Didn't like master of orion 3 cause it pretty much played itself~!!
Very good game. First Master of Orion is one of the best games ever. Maybe my favorite of all time. Liked this second one too but somehow it didn't feel as good to me as the first one. The third one was a very very big dissappointment. Lots of promises were made but it was very boring and crappy eventually. Is there any recently released good game that would be something like those first two games?

Ohh man yes!!! Homeworld is such a tyte game, also homeworld 2!!!!!
But whenever I am trying to have homeworld LAN parties, the games always go out of sync.. and the worst is the game doesn't even seem to notice or tell you so on my friends screen he will be sending an armada of ships after my nearly destroyed remains.. but then if you look on my screen I am winning.. It's like after so long it can't handle multiplayer and the AI takes over without telling you.. I don't know..
But yea, never played Master of Orion 1, I was put off by the lower level of grphx.. Would I still enjoy it even after becoming familiar with master of orion 2??

I think it was released for free few years back and I think it's worth to try. I've played Homeworlds and Star Control 2
(which is not that much like MoO but very nice anyway ). Never tried Ascendancy though.
I want to try 'Space Rangers 2: Dominators' (or Reboot) some day.

Gorgeous game!! One of my all time favourites. Some kind of Civilization in space. 
I can remember whole weekends doing nothing else apart from playing this game.
But I always took the Psilons, cause they had the attribute "creative" which allowed them to research every possible technology within the game.
