Modern Dancing

I made this mix for a friend, somewhat based on the sets I played when I was DJ at her club (Club Ultrafoxx, Stockholm) a while ago

Contains some good old personal favorites from the New Wave/Synthpop scene.
DJ Häkkicon is my non-Disco DJ alias smile

Mixing on this uploaded version was done with my computer and I tried to mix the tracks as well as possible, but this genre is a bit harder than the italo and similar dance music I normally concern myself with.
When I did the live mixing at the club, using vinyl only, it was even harder since I own some of the tracks on 7” or LP only. But the result was OK and the crowd seemed to like it.

I first ment to post another picture (changed to that one now) but I forgot that file at home, so meanwhile I just reused a suitable one I had saved in "my pictures".

mixing worked out pretty well if you ask me... would be a hell of a fight doing this with vinyl...

Yeah I know, I did it with vinyl first and it wasn't easy.
It required some planning of the sets but the result was not too bad IMHO.

I'm lucky the audience at Club Ultrafoxx (that goes for the entire Synth scene of Stockholm and perhaps wherever) aren't exactly used to hearing beatmixed DJ sets, so any decent attempt sounds pretty good to them.

It's fun to once in a while bring some good old synth/wave favourites to life again, as a contrast to the italo/disco stuff I mostly play otherwise.

Got the mix on again today while working and after some twenty minutes my friend said "wie is diene coole dj?" (don't need to translate that I presume  smile
It's 28 tracks hitting the right buttons without one single dull moment and it's great to discover that a lot of those tracks are hiding on the B-side of much more known hits.

Yes, Security might be the best B-side there is, ever.
I started a topic back in the CBS days, listing the "best B-side only" tracks (non album tracks only available on b-sides), and Security got my vote then too.

And The Freeze by Spandau Ballet (in this version, with the synth break) is such an underrated track.

Hmm, after all the positive feedback I might consider putting together a "Modern Dancing 2".
Gotta dig deep in my collection though, since I already used 28 of my all time favourites smile
