Topic: foobar 2000

I finally kicked winamp and want to use foobar 2000 now for listening music.
Works fine so far but I have no idea about all that plugins and themes.
And I can't find any way to bookmark radio streams...

Which plugins/themes are useful and are there any settings I should care about?

Re: foobar 2000

Wanted to try something different...and I heard there are tons of useful plugins.

Everytime I connected my mp3 player it used to close winamp....(seems to happen because of that "plays-for-shure" shit or something).

But if I don't find any way to bookmark stuff I will keep winamp. =/

/ and I miss volume logic already...damn

Re: foobar 2000

foobar2000 def takes a time commitment to setup to your liking but i think its worth it.  also have you noticed similar programs such as itunes and winamp take quite some time to load?  maybe its just my computer but the newer version of winamp seems so bloated it doesn't load nearly as fast as the older versions did.

Re: foobar 2000

I use foobar since long time, very coolex one as he reads ogg vorbis streams without any drops ;-))

Re: foobar 2000

foobar is sweet. I use the regular "skin", which i've modified a bit with fonts and colors, think its enough allthou alot of the skins out there looks pretty cool as well.
Regarding plugins i am fully satisfied with the functionality in foobar, tabs and file operation abilitys. Its so nice to delete duplicates directly from foobar.

Re: foobar 2000

Gonna try out Foobar, im fed up with itunes and winamp. 400gb tracks are hard to handle.

... and you don't want that.

Re: foobar 2000

installed it yesterday like it, but man i could spend so much time fiddling with the way it looks.
Im goin through listening to stuff i aint listened too in maybe yrs thanks too it which good..
I dont think you can do those shiny radical customizations with this version though, i tried adding that panels ui thing but nope work, sais this version incompatible. I wouldnt mind the volume and everything on the bottom tho.

Re: foobar 2000

music players on computers are ugly. there was a version of winamp though that looked descent and worked very well.
i'm stuck with using itunes on the mac, yet to find something i like.

Re: foobar 2000

yep i never updated windows media player for that reason, looked worse by the year. All that flourescent blue shit.
Happy with this foobar, got it brown, orange and grey the way i like things.
Helps i have windows on classic view too all square corners.

Re: foobar 2000

One of the few things I don't like about foobar2000 is the fact that you can't stop it from scanning metadata in all the files you add to a playlist. Adding a ton of files to your playlist takes forever because it's looking for tags and bitrates and such. In Winamp, you can set it to only scan when the files come into view or when they're played, or not at all, so it's no big deal to drop a huge folder in.

There was already a topic about this player several years ago, so time for a new one.
Who else loves this player?

For the people who don't know it, it's a a freeware audio player for windows that is highly modular. It's basicly a framework which you can completly edit according to your own needs.
There are plugins for almost everything that you can think of, for example crossfeed* that reduces listening fatique while using headphones.

I used this skin for my setup and configured it according to my own needs (like keyboard shortcuts, ctrl + t for gettings tags from discogs, ctrl + i to do a google search for the playing artist + album etc.

Re: foobar 2000

how about we go all foobar vs. vlc, which is better?

I just got a new computer and decided to try vlc.  At first I didn't think it sounded as good, but now I'm not even sure, and I like that it can get louder than foobar.  I'm not one to spend a lot of time getting the perfect plugin setup, so I think I'll stick with VLC, plus it plays movies!
