Topic: builds

I saw a couple of posts and threads involving circuit bending, contact mics etc. and was wondering what kinda diy stuff people were getting into here?

for instance...

been working on a cmos based drone synth based off these schematics
http://www.beavisaudio.com/Projects/CMO … plorer.png
only I eliminated the resistor/diode switching in favor of the diodes and added a transducer to contact mic spring reverb.

internal shot is kind of messy but explains how I did the reverb

might be good for noise and drone, maybe

Re: builds

looks awesome, liking the case you have it in. the video is cool too, definitely a nice piece of gear from drone smile

we haven't built anything in a while, been too busy playing shows. i do have a busted death by audio pedal i'm going to look at fixing though eventually..

Re: builds

Thanks

Death by audio, from what I've seen make some really nice pedals. I haven't really heard em too much but have heard good things as far as sound goes. Up there with Dwarfcraft, Earthquaker, anyway.
Which pedal?

I've been wanting to monkey around with pedals for a while now. Was over at experimentalistsanonymous and saw this

Looks easy enough minus the oddball dual 9 volts; think I saw a work-around somewhere.....

Don't know if it's been mentioned here or not but that place is a pretty good source for schematics

Re: builds

There is a bugrbwand workshop this monday and tuesday in Steim.

i don't need the gear, the gear needs me

Re: builds

Sounds interesting. If I was in the area, I'd be up for it.

edit

just looked that up http://www.steim.org/steim/events.php?type=2
would defo be all over that

Re: builds

the bugcrusher is supposed to be like a bitcrusher type thing right? i remember looking into this project a few years back but never built it. (and ended up scoring a alesis bitrman for next to nothing which does a good crushing job)

the DBA pedal is the octave clang, some buds of ours wanted us to take a look at it for them which means if we get it working again we'll get to mess w/ it in the studio before returning it. haha

that workshop looks awesome mono-poly!

Re: builds

Yep, standard bitcrusher. I'm without outboard effects at the moment so that makes it all the more enticing. Have heard a lot of good things about the bitrman, not too much luck in finding one though. Seems like people are kinda reluctant to come off of 'em.

Re: builds

does this count ???

just racked (scamped) 2 modules

I was thinking to make rack for two Barth U311 Dynaset danner modules ... and i found some blank panels and PCBs for my ADR scamp rack so .. it took me 2 days for all!

draw, cutting, get parts, upgrade Barth from 202 to 202c dbx VCA, recapping, wireing, calibration and testing .. whole weekend cooge

here are few pictures!!

based on the 808 (schematics found here: http://ericarcher.net/)
still figuring out what drumsounds I will add next.
