Re: modular startup setup

For 2300 Euro you could also get a Serge Creature and still have a good chunk of cash left over to put towards a second m-odule.

thanks for the information and gentle care smile i am researching and the sense of things is coming to me, i must say. i am traveling to berlin tomorrow for a few days. perhaps i'll pass by schneider and give some of these modules a try. see how they feel. i think that is one of the most important things.

Yes, definitely go to Schneider's Büro, you're not going to find another shop with such a high density of analogue gear
per square meter anywhere in Europe smile)) I still have to visit it, although I bought a Cwejman VCO2RM on the Internet
and the staff was  really helpful and available to my many questions... so it's a thumb up smile

a.

schneider was very educating, unfortunately, a lot of the more interesting stuff is currently on display in london. so if you are plannning to visit the shop, better go to london these days. still i've seen lots of stuff and i do think that for the moment, Euro will do much better then 5u. thats my own personal situation though..

anyone knows some good analog delay module?

Re: modular startup setup

@crippletoe

How much delay time do you want and how much do you wanna spend?
Also do you mean module as in format module or pedal?

edit

also, for pedal references:

Re: modular startup setup

sorry to hijack your thread crippletoe...
question for the modular-literate: how about the MOTM stuff? I have been considering starting off with them for a while now, i like the wealth of modules they have on offer, and I like the idea of building a first system using modules from only one manufacturer. anyone has any experience with them?

Re: modular startup setup

built like a tank, nice sound, cool machines. dont have one, but i played with 2 systems in the past.. not the cheapest option, but certainly imho miles better than the doepfers etc of this world..

Re: modular startup setup

thanks rude smile

they don't seem to be the cheapest for sure although they have some kind of "points" scheme, a bit like airmiles, where with each module you buy you get a discount on the next, and the more modules = the more points = the more discount. Plus they have the option of buying the modules as kits rather than pre-assembled saving about 30% on the module price. customer oriented ha!

Re: modular startup setup

Oakley roxx :0

Hordijk stuff is pretty cool too, but I aint got that in the studio ( yet)

Oakley is available in Europe in kits and or complete builds btw, via krisp1.com ( just mail the guy for info). The shop is not always filled but he builds anything in the oakley catalogue when asked

MOTM is great too, but I've heard about long waiting times. ( got no experience with that)

3U stuff is just too small imo....a lot of choices but you can always put 3U modules in a 5U panel ( i got some 5U modules based on 3U or 4U motherboards)

If you dont want to build a very large system (as in wall of moog tongue ) but wanna keep it around the 2300EU specced one, perhaps save a little more money and go for the Fenix 2, then you will have a all-in-one system box, without any PSU, connector hassles and cabinet woes.

Re: modular startup setup

Yeah the Fenix 2 is a good option indeed at 3K.

MOTM canceled their points system and kits a few years back.. occasionally when they have an excess of parts they'll make up some kits on a limited basis.

Re: modular startup setup

@ Forax

Thanks that's nice to know... It's still reported on their actual pdf price list from their website. Maybe that's out of date too? uhmmm....

Re: modular startup setup

yes, i remember paul saying a few years ago that he'd quit doing the kits. too much hassle and work..

They're only making about 75 Fenix 2s though, and there's already a waiting list.

Re: modular startup setup

Well the list is not completely filled as far as i know.
