Topic: Minimoog volt/oct adjustment

I have a question for the technically inclined

The Mini operates at not quite 1v/oct, something like 0.95v/oct iirc.

It's possible to scale the oscillators to 1v/oct, but then the keyboard is not scaled.

You can also use a Midi to CV converter that can be scaled, but then you have to set it back to 1v/oct for other synths.

I'd love to have a device that takes a 1v/oct signal and "quantizes" it to something custom, in this case the Mini.

Can this be done?

I'd appreciate any info, thanks!

Re: Minimoog volt/oct adjustment

First of all, a Minimoog should be 1V/Oct - that's the standard that Moog always used.

However, I've read that many midi-cv interfaces have a voltage "droop" when driving a Minimoog - and that the Minimoog's sample and hold also suffers from voltage droop:

This talks about the problem more and might be a solution:

Here are some more ideas for you - these are interfaces which make custom CV-scaling to make your synth perfectly in tune:

Re: Minimoog volt/oct adjustment

Tune the keyboard, and then tune the oscillators.
Procedures should be online...

it sounds like the last person who did the tuning just tuned the oscs for the keyboard.

Re: Minimoog volt/oct adjustment

ok thanks guys, nofi I'll give give that a try.

I was sure I'd read in a few places that the Mini wasn't quite 1v/oct, oh well
