Topic: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Hey guys,

I've recently come across another title from Flemming Dalums "Boogie Down Firenze" mix and so I listened to it again, trying to figure out how many tracks there are and filling in some of the gaps. It's not a whole lot but I thought it may just be enough to kick off a discussion with the aim to assemble the complete tracklisting. I'm pretty confident that with the expertise at hand in these forums, together we can decode that motherfucker smile

Here's what I've got so far:

00:00 INTRO

72:22
72:45
73:37 *)
75:45

*) indicates an instrumental

I'm not 100% sure about the track numbering of course, because Flemming's flawless megamix-style makes it hard to say where a new track begins or a short track gets faded in for a sec. Some of these may have to be split up or merged, I don't know.

In any case, if any of you has a clue about the remaining tracks, you're very welcome to share your thoughts! Imho this is one of Flemmings best works, and figuring out the tracklist is way overdue.

Thanks in advance for your help!

All the best,

Ingmar

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

some more tracks from the mix (sorry not in order)

U-Turn – Neanderthal Man
Paul Diamond - Call Back
Duncan Mackay – Sirius III
Black Inferno - Black Inferno
Telex News - Forever
David silver - Gym panic
Dee d jackson - my sweet carillon
Ray Massara - DJ for Money
Marc Fruttero - Disco Silvia

brilliant mix!

btw I really need the ID on the track at 27:30

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Thanks a lot hysteric, I've updated the tracklist accordingly! There's only one thing: I could not find but a short snippet of the David Silver track online, and thus I can't really tell where that fits into the list, maybe you can double-check this?

Flemming also used the track from ~6:20 for a mix he recently did for Spank! radio, I may still have a local copy of that mix somewhere but I'm not sure. It's the one with the "you walk around as if you were the boss" opening line.

Oh yes!

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Just received my personal copy of the Telex News 12" and there's actually another track from Boogie Down Firenze on the b-side! It's been added to the tracklist as well.

Any more suggestions? The vocoder track starting at 69:14 is awesome...

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Some I found after a quick scan:

8m42s Tommy Kelvin - Jungle Bow Wow (after the track with "ha ha ha, you know make me laugh" <= is that neanderthal man?)
23m59s Maskio - Dear Sir... (instrumental) (track 17)
39m05s Blue Vision - Visions (instrumental) (track 28)
40m43s Life, Love & Liberty - Young Boy (instrumental) (track 29)
54m43s Space Art - Nous Savons Tout (track 45)

"Are you loving?"

that's Francis Rimbert - "Vocoderman"

at 28 min (before Telex News) is Radio Band - "Radio Rap"
at about 67 mins is Novo - "Extremix"

no this track is still unreleased i think, it's a new production. I really hope they do release it though.
If you listen to the lyrics carefully it's pretty funny.. "you pretend you're the king of records" wink

New? Well, thanks for letting me know. Yes, funny lyrics. wink

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Hey Scarface and hysteric, thanks a lot for your contribution! In the meanwhile, I've added the new titles to the tracklist and shifted some of the remaining free slots around a little bit.

I'd love to say discomagic, but you know... it's become quite expensive so I had to stick to ZYX :-) Love that track though, so I'm very happy with it!

I still can't figure where "Gym panic" fits into the tracklist, can you help me out here?

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

I know Stefano Breda - Electric Fling is about 2 tracks before DJ for Money.
Also, the "Ha Ha Ha you know you make me laugh" song is also in the Italo Gemms mix, which apparently all the songs in that mix are 100% italo and super, extra rare. so i don't believe it's unreleased...
but that's just my opinion. i could be wrong.

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

The "Ha Ha Ha you know you make me laugh" is unreleased song from Andy Romano. His voice and sounds are easy to recognise. Italo gemms mix has about 5 unreleased songs from Andy. Hope they get released soon.

I would love to help cracking this monster, but unfortunately I don't have the mix yet. Have fun!

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Ah, thanks for the info on Andy Romano, discoteca!

"Are you loving?"

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Cheers everybody

Andy Romano made this "Ahaha" (working title) back in 2008. I was very hooked on it and ask Kimmo Salo who was thinking about a release on Flashback records for premission to give it some more attention in my BOOGIE DOWN FIRENZE mix.

Great track with great lyric/vocal... I don't know if this will ever be released....

Always on two turntables, one take, no edits, bla, bla...

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Hey,

thanks everyone, especially you, Flemming Dalum, to help us out here! Flemming, you don't happen to remember some of the remaining tracks, do you? smile

Seriously though, I've updated the list accordingly, and also put timestamps on the tracks to make it easier for everyone to locate the individual tracks within the mix.

discoteca, I highly recommend you check it out, it's definitively worth it.

Greetings to all of you,

Ingmar

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

I finally got the box-set. Incredible mix indeed, full of unknown gems. I only managed to recognise these three:

35:04 EVA AND FRIENDS - Fantasia Theme
45:46 LIQUID EYES – Shine
67:41 THE BACKSTREETS - Night Shot

"Just look the sun and live your life"

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Just discovered the underlying track in the intro and thru 1:52  is Gina X Performance - Ciao Caruso...knew this sounded familiar. Back to trying to crack this monster hehehe

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Thanks jmoney69, that's quite an interesting find (to me, at least) ! Maybe Flemming has been using more of Gina X Performance tracks for his mix... I'll try to find out.

In the meanwhile, I've updated the tracklist with the new track.

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Just found out that the track playing at 47:47 is another Steen Gjerulff joint: Cyclus - Symptom

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

found another one by accident:
@61 mins: Midnightrats – Goalmaker

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Thx hysteric!

Btw that record does not sound like an italian production to me at all, very professional singer and stuff.

Re: Flemming Dalum - Boogie Down Firenze

Rejoice! Apparently, the full tracklist can now be found on Discogs!

Thanks to everyone who helped contributing!
