In Afro Samurai, doesn't samuel do the voices for both main characters? (Afro Samurai & Ninja Ninja) I though that was the case.

You're right it is! I don't know why I was sure he only did Afro samurai... Guess he's a better voice actor that I thought wink

Re: Anime thread

I quite like anime, Mushishi is one of my favorites, also love Seirei No Moribitu, which is about a female warrior bodyguard who has to protect the son of the emperor and deal with a demon.
Kino No Tabe is awesome and sort of like Mushishi--a girl and her talking motorcycle travel to different countries and each of them is very different and has like a philosophical story or point.

In the sci-fi genre:
Ergo Proxy
Serial Experiment Lain
Toward the Terra
Dennou Coil

I like this girly one called Haibane Renmai about some schoolgirls with wings and it seems dumb at first but of course gets trippy and strange and there's something odd about the winged girls...

My most favorite of all time is Mononoke which is about a traveling medicine man/demon hunter. It's in the horror genre and is very very bloody and scary and absolutely gorgeous.

Other interesting arty ones: Gankutsuo, Le Chevalier D'eon (cross-dressing French revolutionary spies possessed by demons),  Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (totally incomprehensible one about a troupe of actors and the Shogun period of Japanese history and lots of swords and political intrigue). Can't remember any others I've been watching recently.

My favorite anime blog is: http://www.iwanihana.info/ and I pretty much watch everything suggested on there.

Re: Anime thread

metro-nome, nice post, lot's of titles in your post i been curious about and have left them alone such as, Le Chevalier D'eon and Bakumatsu Kikansetsu & Gankutsuo, gonna check these out when i get a chance.
Alos will have to check out Kino No Tabe, almost finished mushi shi.
recently saw Ergo proxy was very good, need to watch it again, saw it over several months, serial experiement lain, i found a bit slow, need to watch that again also.
Not heard of Toward the Terra, Dennou Coil & Seirei No Moribitu
Got some hunting to do.

Re: Anime thread

Really enjoyed Dennou Coil. It's about augmented reality: virtual objects/creatures that can only been seen by people wearing virtual glasses, the story starts with a girl looking for her cyber dog. Kind of cyber punk, but with children instead of punks wink

Haibane Renmai is also on my watch list.

I like to use Anime-Planet to find new anime to watch. It's a recommendation database made by users: If you liked that specific anime > you should check out such and such. There's reviews and screenshots, it's a quick way to discover new stuff.

Re: Anime thread

Mattamation: Finishing mushishi is totally a sad moment. I don't know--that's probably my favorite one of all time. I loved how each episode was pretty separate and gave you a lot to think about while watching it and the soundtrack is very good too.

It's just a very different kind of series.

Re: Anime thread

Anybody seen Slam Dunk! ? A friend recommended this one "an old school classic" he refers to it as. I'm probably going to start watching tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Anime thread

i've heard about it though not seen it, let me know how it is.
