Topic: A lession in New Beat

For you (including me) non experts in the New Beat genre, here is an excellent one hour lession from 2 Many DJ's:

A very interesting story, accompanied by flawless mixing and great video material  smile

Re: A lession in New Beat

this shit is dope. i've always loved new beat but never really understood what it is. now i know.

Re: A lession in New Beat

Personally I cannot decide wheather to love or hate it.

In the long term I guess I find it too monotone.
The resemblance to acid and the slow bpm bores me a bit.

But I like some of the elements as the heavy electronic beats.

The fact that it developed as an underground style of music and became very successful despite the boycott from major record labels and radio stations is also pretty cool.

I enjoy throwing in some New Beat track in my DJ sets once in a while to contrast to the Italo/Disco/Synthpop/New Wave I often play.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
All of my base,
Are belong to you.

many Thanks, not sure it is new beat, sounds more synth-wave than dance music. but it was on antler..They put weathermen-poison in the mix and I thought it was more ebm than new beat, but no matter how the bottle is, only counts the intoxication.

Re: A lession in New Beat

@ lucio robo
welcome! :-)
i guess with new beat it's just like with cosmic. it's very hypnotic, different styles are mixed together, sometimes stuff is pitched down...
tracks like breakdown by carol & snowy red or euroshima by snowy red work perfect in a set as a break... to come down again without losing intensity. same goes for weathermen - poison only the other way around... it's uplifting and more pop. and well those are all belgian artists that's probably also a reason why they get played in a new beat mix without being 100% new beat.

Re: A lession in New Beat

Yeah I love this stuff too wink now I know that there's a name for it... I always thought it's simply some Darkwave/etc style...

Re: A lession in New Beat

is there a dl link?
