Topic: Two new Monotron's..

one has the mono/poly x-mod, and the second some kind of space echo thing going on. they could have added cv/gate.

yeah i know, but still

Re: Two new Monotron's..

it seems korg´s contemplation crew is just bunch of retards..2011 and no midi/usb whatever basic control for it.. roll
pretty stupid from company who has made a shitloads of analog stuff in the past..

i still hope these small toys are just bridge to something better..something like minikorg sized monosynth with ms-series sound on them and the bloody MIDI control

Re: Two new Monotron's..

That button on DUO which divides ribbon into scales of discrete values makes it usable in melodic context - like pocket-sized EDP Gnat. But exchange of LFO for X-mod is not very practical - on original Monotron LFO served as both rudimentary envelope control and maker of sequencer-like steady rhythms (not too steady to record overdubs, but steady enough for the effect). Not shure if X-mod can produce something similar.
But, then, it seems that the point of this range is to show off the possibilities of analog sound, not making something very practical.
And then Korg should kick in with full fledged usable synth. One thing that is bothering me is that with each release of new ribbon synthesizer, this supposed synth gets farther away in time. When Monotron was introduced I thought that Korg will make serious analogue synth in half a year. By serious I mean "with keyboard or MIDI".

wonder if the noisy output is still there from the first one  sad
