Re: Greece

So, me and my girlfriend are going to Greece next saturday. We're stopping for one day in Thessaloniki and then we don't know where we're going.
I don't know nothing about Greece, haven't done any research yet, so where would you suggest? I'd really like to go to one of those small, isolated, away from the flocks of tourists, paradisiacal beaches, James Bond style, but still affordable.
I'm going by car, driving from Macedonia.

Re: Greece

miravelles: come to Lefkada island. There are many isolated beaches + some very good beaches with not too many tourists (e.g. Egremni with just a beach bar and no other amenities for arrogant tourists). The island itelf is nice, quite a bit of tourists but not in the mountains. One of the few places relatively unspoilt in Greece.

Re: Greece

I was in Kefalonia last which is a small island a bit south of Lefkada (There is a ferry to and from the island). Kefalonia has amazing beaches and scenery. Some parts of the island are becoming more touristy (Argostoli, Skala) but overall its a pretty quiet place.

Here is a video-postcard I made last summer which shows some parts of the island:

Re: Greece

Hi folks,

So, I'm back from Greece now. Thanks for all the tips. We just went to Halkidiki, which is nice but very crowded and to Thassos island. This one has really beautiful beaches and not that many tourists. There's an amazing place there called Giola. It's worth a visit and the prices are good. We stayed in a great apartment for 30 euro per day, just 4 steps from the beach.
We were planing to go to Samothraki before deciding to head to Thassos, but we saw a travel show on greek TV showing the island and they just showed mountains, trails and waterfalls that seemed very remote. It looked really hot. Well, Greece is really hot these days but Samothraki seemed too hot  smile
It's very beautiful though. I definitely wanna come back to Greece some day and Samothraki is on the list of places to see.
