Topic: Telex Eurovision @Den Haag ESC 1980 - 30 year anniversary
30 years ago today – April 19, 1980 Den Haag The Netherlands – the Belgian trio Telex participated in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Their entry, named ‘Euro-Vision’, was a humoristic reference to the competition itself.
Since Telex had no hope to win the contest, they aimed for last place.
But Finland and Morocco (!) were less successful and came behind Telex who finished 17 out of 19 competitors.

30 years later, I still think Euro-Vision is one of the coolest songs to enter the ESC.
Telex were pioneers of the synthpop genre, and also had impact on future styles like house, techno and electro.
In 2007 I put together a 72 minute mix consisting of Telex tracks only.
