Topic: Footwurk Traks

Already mentioned this in some other thread, so i'v only just heard about this "Footwurk" style & from what i hear i quite like it. These traks have their roots in chicago house tracks, such as the 'dance mania' label and these youngers have taken the traks hardcore for the Footwurk kids using samples from pop and hip hop, warping them in fruityloops etc. The hypnotising quality combined with the sparser drum patterns, often with busy fills, relentless triplets and off-kilter accents, mirroring the speed of the dance, is what gives these Footwurk Traks their unique quality for me.

This one also pretty good, it's not Footwurk/Juke as such, more dubstep with a juke influence.

Anyone feelin it?

Re: Footwurk Traks

Searching for 'footwurk' I found this one, I like it is cause he taped over what I believe is a wedding video.

Dunno about the music you posted tho. A bit too random for my taste, but I heard some better stuff but I reckon I only like that better cause it's much closer to Dance Mania stuff.

Re: Footwurk Traks

Are they at last seeing the light and abandoning duking for a more Jit like action ?

A paranoid is someone who knows a little of whats really going on.

Boi dis trak is nasty, but Dj Nate got it locked!

Footwork is meant to be the dance I think, Juke is the main thang.

Re: Footwurk Traks

hehe that RP boo track is cool, doesnt even have a bassdum just some jamming on a Boss DR660

What the fuck is that track in that EP lightbulb dance video, its got some crazy arpeggio and strings

Re: Footwurk Traks

This is unique, new and jarring music, but I don`t take it too serious.  wink

Re: Footwurk Traks

Footwork is indeed the dance and called Juke in Chicago if I'm right. Seems to be around for quite some years. I supose Ghetto Tech is the music style connected to the dance. Most stuff is very similair to booty-stuff and miam- bass. But now it seems some kids going deep and taking it musically into interesting directions. Thnx for mentioning Chilli P.

Damn, that first track on that EB & Kees battlegroundz vid is nice. Anybody any idea?

It just is..

Re: Footwurk Traks

Fuck this one is the jam, crazy DR660 beats

I love it.

Re: Footwurk Traks

DJ Assault - Let me see your footwork.mp3

yeah boyeee

Re: Footwurk Traks

Picked up on this on youtube a couple times while clicking thru the links on old chicago house vids. Some of the music is really out there.

I like that it seems to be a emergence of an urban dance style that isn't directly linked to horrible autotune rap. Its also good to see that there's music coming out of Chicago that is a descendant of dance mania, and that it seems to currently have little exposure outside of a few cities.

No synthesizer too arpeggiated, no disco too italo.

Re: Footwurk Traks

Indeed. And it does really sound new, as Perez already said so well.

Re: Footwurk Traks

But the "dancing" looks retarded.

Re: Footwurk Traks

Don`t think the dance looks retarded, they got some pretty good moves.

Like 2 c U guys appreciating the music. So here is a pretty cool mix I just discovered with lots of DJ Nate stuff in.

Footwork mixx

Takes some time to get into, but then is ridiculous....

the first minute I thought this is pretty retarded, but then it became kinda catchy.
the last one smackos posted with the fast drums is also pretty cool.
I quite like the randomness and "amateurishness" of this music, doesn't sound like your average preprogrammed ableton-music.

Re: Footwurk Traks

checkin out more now. why do they all have a track called wallacam??

I really get in the mood now to fire up some drum machines and set the scale to 3/4 or just record some random button hits.  big_smile

Re: Footwurk Traks

The Addisson Groove is nice but it`s a bit different to the original Footwork sound as you can hear.

More info about Walacam.

One of the major artists is a transexual named Katey Red.
