Topic: James Last anyone?

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a robot who is able to suggest some good albums by this famous musician? Really wanna know if there is a must have, mostly it is not possible to give a listen on flea markets. I know there are some good tracks but I have no idea which records...

thanks for your help!

this one issued by Melodia label was probably in every household in the USSR. we had our two copies played to death. Side B rocks hard, real nice b-boy medley kind of thing, Side A some nice bits too.

found the start of side b on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bj1Lz9Gr2c haha love those crowd noises in the beginning

Re: James Last anyone?

i have VOODOO PARTY. Really bad. even as a joke a lame album. Believe me, i heard it 5-6 times because so many people are saying it is cool. But i definitely cant find any nice moment on it.
But i heard there is one brasil style album which supposed to be good.

i hate soccer

Re: James Last anyone?

James Last op klompen ROCKS! Not.

Re: James Last anyone?

I believe some of his stuff was sampled by those downtempo leftfield trip hop whatever they called that kinda people. Like Nightmares on Wax, they sampled 'Washington Square'. Not that that makes it any better, but I reckon there's some cool parts to be found between all the cheese.

I like this (even before Tarentino used it in Kill Bill):

Re: James Last anyone?

yes, there was a thread about James Last somewhere in the past, that`s why I remembered `Voodoo Party`and I bought this one today for 50 ct (still had no time to listen to, just switched through before the world cup games started). I see so many albums of him...

the youtube link shows the classic Last as we all know by our parents, it seems the video was taken in Berlin/Waldbühne btw.

I suppose there are some interesting tracks on the one or other album, but maybe not more. I hoped somebody comes here and says "this one is a cool one, check it out..."

anyways, it`s not that important, thanks guys.

That's spot on, captain! Cause I remember my mom told a story that my dad used to play this song the whole night long back to back (one from cassette and the other one from vinyl) once. My dad can have this "moods" sometimes... Afterwards (only then) we find this very funny and laugh about it.   lol

Re: James Last anyone?

This is an ok-ish one, good for sampling anyway. In general James Last is the guy who'll make your digging day a miserable one, though. Can't see that guy's face anymore

Re: James Last anyone?

I am listening to Voodoo Party atm, and it`s better than expected. Really, there are some good tunes on there. And if you forget the face of James Last for a moment, the record is pretty fun.  big_smile

okay Kuzcera, I`ll check out Biscaya too.  wink

you are so right...
Maybe we should devote a topic on the covers we hate the most:
