Re: What new booty have you acquired?

it doesn't show on the picture but it's a small scale Bass guitar, for the kid. .. so it's very easy to play

.. these things are not switches but  little wheel that control volume for each pick-up.
the two big usual ones are general volume & some sort Bass/treble control...  i think it's great for all those Peter Hook / New order  kinda sounds, but forget slapping on this one =/

what's a P-Bass??
Edit/ (OK got it...   Precision Bass of course smile

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Looks nice!

I love the eko guitars and basses, there's a store in an italian neighbourhood close by that has lots of flashy Eko vintage stuff, are they well made?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

well, yes.. despite looking & feeling a bit cheap these are very well made i must say, the neck is still totally straight and all strings have a nice action.. not bad for a 45+ years old bass guitar, it feels & sounds somewhat like a "cheaper" rickenbacker or hofner bass

I was at a guitar & bass public auction last week & was quite surprised to see many EKO guitars go for above 1000€ especially the flashy blue or red ones with many pickups,  one particular model had 4 pickups, another one had incorporated phaser/Modulation and really beautiful "mother of pearl" pickguard, buttons etc..

mine was just 70€

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Fully loaded Kyma Capybara 320 system.

Of course now I have to sell the other one...and my Moog Voyager RME...

Both listed in Trade/Sell.

the price you paid is pretty much what i see them go for over here in the states. actually that guitar w/ the 4 pick-ups looks exactly like one a shop has not far from our place.

i always find that they have a lot of issues with the action being too high and often the truss is not repair-able. but they always remind me of being like a "sonic youth" guitar ie, a guitar you can abuse to all hell and not feel bad if it gets jacked up. smile

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

there's an interesting page about Sonic Youth's Guitar Collection  .. guy even gives details about how they were tuned, on which song or tour they were used,  etc.. etc.. pretty crazy when you think of it. but no EKO guitars i'm afraid

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

FM3 Buddha Machine and Theresynth. Just waiting for the shipment to arrive.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

yeah that SY collection page is absolutely insane both the fact that they have that many guitars and know not just the tuning of each one but also the string gauges, but also the fact that someone actually took the time to put it all together.

Those FM3 Buddha Machines are pretty cool, we played with a band that used one not long ago. I think I also read about Throbbing Gristle designing their own version but not sure if it ever came about..

I love the Buddha Machines. I bought 3, but I'm planning to buy like 10 or 15. It must be very cool to play them at the same time. Have you seen/heard this work by Robert Henke (Monolake/Ableton Live), in which he uses just Buddha Machines? It's very good.

The Throbbing Gristle version is out. It's called Gristleism. Here it is: http://www.analoguehaven.com/industrial … ristleism/

Ipad and this software http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/046/Purple/95/f2/ff/mzl.awwsuxgk.480x480-75.jpg works with dsmidiwifi to control syths via DAW.

I can sit on my lounge and jam wireless midi melodies via ipad. Only now have to get it to work in maschine.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

oooh, cool!

I always wanted one of those style keyboards to play with, but hadn't gotten around to buying a hardware one.... let us know how it is for actual playing when you get it and use it for a bit! I'd be a bit worried about laggyness or something, but I guess wifi should have better data transmission speeds than midi or usb....

It's not here yet. Just got sent out today.

I look forward to it. The first one I had (4 cards, 4 channel I/O), I only had a couple of weeks before this fully loaded (14 cards, 8 channel I/O) one popped up. August is looking like Kyma month as I am moving house in July as well and have basically my whole rig packed up. Been reading the book though. It's pretty mind blowing. If you get their code down you can basically do whatever you want. A lot of people use it as their DAW as well with the Motormix (included in the package deal). I may end up doing that.

I'd be curious to know if the DS-200 sounded different than the Techstars.

Finally had a chance to get with it and I like it a lot. For the price anyways (140 USD). It's a very vintage sounding bleep machine. Much more vintage sounding than the Techstar engine. Weirdly though, when set right it can make some very believable kick drums.

Ridiculously fast envelopes. It does the basic things the Syncussion does well (bleeps, bloops, kick drums) but isn't nearly as deep nor does it have the fidelity of the Syncussion.

I'll keep my Techstar 305 and 204 though. They sit really nicely in a mix and make basic synth sounds you don't want to bother your other synths with.
