eh, makes total sense.  I'm thinking Roland's CEOs are just handing off coloring books and sketchpads to their children, nieces and nephews for ideas.  That has to be it....really.....

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

sounds like you've split the room miravalles lol

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

I think it's ugly. I'm not a big fan of paint jobs in most cases, except if it concerns equipment that's already ugly from itself custom jobs should be about airbrushed unicorns and palmtrees or something.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

white surfaces are a definite No for eyes that can barely adjust to sunlight.  for some reason white synths just seems to whisper "heavenly trance" in appearance. maybe one from the studio of a heavy smoker would look better.

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

I don't know if someone mentioned it already, but one thing that I'd really hate about having a MicroKorg is having those totally stupid genre names on the program knob:

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

I guess it's Sound Effects and sounds like Orchestra Hits or other one-shots...
But would be funny if it was meant to be something like Top40 stuff big_smile

Sadly, the new MicroKorg XL (which looks very nice otherwise) still has the same kind of labelling...

Re: The Ugly Gear Topic

the funniest thing about this old fm synth is that the gigantic wheel is just a huge volume knob on a normal-sized pot, it does absolutely nothing else http://www.vintagesynth.com/yamaha/ys200.php
