damn i'm out of touch for 2 days and everyone posts fucking awesome gear purchases! congrats everyone.
now we definitely need to plan a trip up to see you tony!!
I just bought an original SEM with the oberheim singe unit housing! yay!
...now the waiting game begins.
Nice work Tony. Already saw the auction on Matrixsynth! Looks to be in great shape.
Original SEM...more amazing synth purchases!
very happy with my new little fat friend:
Neud: does your have the transformator chassi hum? Mine sounds like a chainsaw.

You got this synth spotter stumped.... What the hell is that?
Maestro G-1. Nice find Freek, how is it?
Or is it the Maestro W-3? Or G-2? Mm...
the W-2 is a woodwind soundsystem: basically a preset synth that tracks the pitch of the input signal. It was made in 1967 and originally pick-ups for clarinet and saxophone were included. It sounds pretty fat on some different signals Ive tried. On a 303 you can get different tones (and sort of unison sound) and sometimes it has a strange twist when using the filters. I also connected it to the tv and you get some kind of fuzzy bass crackling but its funny to hear that each different channel has its own 'pitch' depending on the type of program. If you use polyphonic sounds or chords it will distort on the overlapping notes, it can be nice with the right settings. It came with a special case and its in a great condition.. Indeed a nice find
Awesome Freek!

Post a load of samples when you get it. I'd love to compare its sounds to the new SEM (which I own one of).
A friend has just given me an SY77 (the disk drive doesn't work). Are they any good and how hard is it to program FM synths???
Awesome Freek!
thanks D! will do some more testing today, I'm addicted to those colored rocker-switches
yeah I have a new SEM already too.. very keen to hear how they sound side by side.
Hopefully relatively close, because I'd like to run them as a 2 voice, using my polyphonic CV converter...

They're not hard. They're just tedious. Good for you. I've been waiting for a 77 or 99 to show up here.
Pleasantly surprised with a Machinedrum I've been playing with for the last couple of days. MkI UW only paid 680 USD shipped for it as new. Bought it cause it was a deal and always wanted to try one but it packs a lot of punch for its footprint and is great for quickly sampling drum sounds from other synths in the studio.
got a roland dj-70mkII about two weeks ago, its a keyboard version of the S760 with some live performance additions but only stereo outputs. maxed out the ram to 32MB for ten bucks and hooked up an old zip drive to the scsi, now i just need to sample more stuff into it. bass on it blows the akais and ensoniqs i've used away, though admittedly those were lower quality.
finally found a cheap keytek CTS2000 that i've been wanting for a little while, it's the last true synth siel ever made. it's like some kind of horrendous bootleg attempt at copying the concept of the D50 but hitting something closer to an esq-1. awful quality digital sample waveforms combined in sequences of 3 and run through the same curtis chain as the dk-80, but mercifully better configurability than the dk-80 (3 lfos, 2 egs, independent filters/egs for each voice, etc). i love the crappy fuzzy siel sound, so the only real problem i'm going to have with it from what i understand is the fact that each octave of the five octave keyboard is essentially treated as a separate synthesizer and therefore you have to program in the same patch five times to get it to go across the whole keyboard! hilarious.
