Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

How many listeners can each of you stream for? We could try to organize all the seperate streams into one, and then let others be support streamers. I seem to remember that we did something similar during the top 100 this year. Robot Orphanage Radio coming up!

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

just fantasizing a bit:

we could even try setting up some (minimal) web infrastructure where guerilla robot radio stations announce their streams in realtime when they go up/down, perhaps even with some more info. If that info is exported to some XML file or so, players like the Mac RobotPlayer can get the stream info, again in realtime, and offer an up-to-date choice of robot stations that are broadcasting at a given point in time. The return of the dancing robot...

I'm actually working on that. I think I will have a site up after I get back from work some time smile

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

I'm broadcasting 24/7. The stream is stable on Foobar and Winamp.
I don't know why there are drops between tracks on VLC...Anyone got an idea ? Any help is welcome :-)

Pitchounet Radio is about all kind of music even if I'm specialized in electronix...it's not only IDM, but also Electro, Italo, Disco, Darkwave, House, Techno, Video Games Music...etc...

Tell me where can I post the infos about the schedule, because I'll organize some live DJing sessions in the very next days and also broadcast some mixes ;-)

Any feeback (technical or musical) are welcome ;-)

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

I asked S.T.E.N.T.E.C. for an area called "Streaming" or "Radio" under the "Music" forum, let's see what happens. That would be ideal for organizing the infos and publicising the streams of the swarm.

Tradition is kindling of the fire, not worship of the ashes.

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

What's cool is that is we get enough of these small streams up, we can still have special events like top 100 and competitions...we would just have a main broadcast and all the streams can relay it.

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

Let's see how this turns up... Maybe this is too soon for that stuff, but I like Lemmings idea of having a dedicated server to relay the different streams (that way quality and numbers of listeners could be upped).

I know I'd be willing to contribute some $/

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

I have a stream ready that I used from time to time for really special events... (most of them regarding megamixes) nothing streaming right now and no actual plan but I will join the community if we have to relay something ;-)

I was already a time to time pitchounet listener (and relayer) so at least something hasen't change for me ...  I will be on x-bobo... I think I have no more excuse now... right ?

Will be playing CBS tribute 2nite. hear me in 45 mins smile

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

I'm also willing to continue streaming but perhaps quite randomly; whenever I've got time and the mood is right smile

When online, expect everything from ambient to old school industrial and from easy listening detroitish techno to gloomy post-punk.

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

this brings back memories

i used to have a 512 sdsl and broadcast my then terrible mp3 collection through shoutcast together with a longfocus webcam view on a parkbench in front of the complex. it must have been 2000 or something, and nobody connected unless i appeared on some irc or whatever.

it used up some bandwith nevertheless wink

Re: Setting up a stream yourself?

Banzai used to be a pirate radio station in Den Bosch NL until 6 months ago...exists for 30 years or so. then some guys in suits told us we should stop radiobroadcasting or pay fines (and since the studio is in an former squad the people who live there are still paranoid and said we shoud stop too). so we went to the internets.

The djs are a weird mix of local music-freaks tryng to get organasized

well, got my records packed...heading over there right now, play at 2200; would be nice too catch some of u over there.

The streaming link changed. Instead of  http://62.131.93.71:8000/  it's   http://s8.viastreaming.net:7870/listen.pls  now.
It's no longer 48Kbps but 96Kbps so if it's no trouble can you please update the first post Kvannti?
