Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I couldn't resist this TINY (1.615" x 1.01") dual-channel oscilloscope, FFT and waveform generator for $35 USD:

- 2 Analog Inputs @ 2MSPS
- 8 Digital Inputs @ 2MSPS
- Meter Mode: DC, Average and Frequency
- FFT Spectrum Analyzer
- X/Y Mode
- Protocol sniffer UART, I2C, SPI ...coming soon: MIDI too!
- Waveform generator with Frequency Sweep
- 128x64 pixel OLED

I'm going to make a little side-panel on my modular and add jacks for the digital & analog inputs and the waveform output.

haha, awesome!

I kinda want one.

whats the adjustment procedures for scale and trigger level like? nice and fast to get to and set, I hope..

you should install it in place of a VU meter in your GSSL!

Everything is just a couple of button pushes away:

hehe - no room for it on the front panel, but it would be super easy to patch in on the fly to the inputs/outputs. Besides, I just ordered a fancy gain-reduction meter for it from www.hairballaudio.com :

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I finally found the V1.0 roms for the Lexicon PCM60!

I had to buy a "for parts" machine and swap the chips, thankfully it only cost me 10$.

It might seem like nothing, but getting rid of the "reverse" setting and getting the "plate" setting back is worth it!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

nice tony! though i'm bummed cause us old shoegazers like our reverse reverbs. haha

we just got the "new" Electribe MX1 w/ SD card. pretty sweet. we needed another machine for live and i just really love how simple and fast those things are to use, not to mention road durable.

worship the potentiometer.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Mono-poly - I don't quite understand why someone would need a preamp with modular signal levels which are already usually 7-10volts peak-to-peak. How are you going to use this?

OK, that makes sense when using passive devices that are so old that they were invented before electricity big_smile

Also to add a bit of colour to the sound, you can overdrive things in a nice way with different preamps.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Yeah putting a preamp in your recording chain is always nice.
Transformers make them sound nice indeed.

Transformers make them sound nice indeed.

that depends on so many factors, for example:

- the output impedance of the device
- the input/output impedance of the transformer
- the input impedance of the device that receive the signal
- the material of the transformer core
- whether the transformer is gapped or ungapped
- the quality of the windings, etc.
- the levels that you drive the transformer
- the watt rating of the transformer

no offense, but it's a bit random to say that transformers make things sound nice. i don't care if it's the most vintage chunk of iron, if you connected it wrong then it's going to either distort or attenuate low and/or high frequencies.

now I'm not suggesting that you're hooking things up wrong, but sticking iron in a signal path isn't always going to do nice things to the sound.
