Re: new Jupiter 80

You guys need to give this beast a chance before you bash it.  I hear it does an amazing stand-up bass sound, which I'm sure you're aware is what makes the original Jupiters so revered.  I mean, there would be no point in calling this a Jupiter if it didn't do a cracking stand-up bass.  Right?  Plus it looks like they put an ashtray on the top left of the panel right below where it says Roland.  FINALLY someone gets it right.

And did you not see the effects section on the right of the front panel??  The reverb can be turned On or Off!  SICK!!

Re: new Jupiter 80

OOF! endorsed By Howard Jones.. Terror...
Its a mixed up product for sure. What we want is a decent synth not a plugin in a big box. Tisk... I can hear 1001 hip hop producers reaching for their credit cards.. :\

+++ Dont be scared honey, thats just the resonance knob +++

Re: new Jupiter 80

How can we sell more V-synths??? Put it in a box with buttons that look like one of the classics from our glorious past and brand it like the second comming of jesus... If i could get my hands on Rolands head of marketing and the head of RD, I would give them a serious bashing...

PG15+
When even the engineer sales guy has to come up with some cockeyed excuse to why we should think that one fuck up on top of a lucky fuck up, that ended up making one of the top 5 greatest polys ever made, should make this a good product, just goes to show that people are all ready running like hell from this thing. If the story is true then Roland actually succeeded turning water into wine with the J8, but why then go back and try to fix what was better as a mistake???. Why the fuck didn't they take the old one and build on it's strengths. Like they Dave Smith did with his P8. Sure the P8 has had problems but it builds and expands on a great synth and tries to carry the torch further. The J80 most likely sucks just as much fat dinner band drummercock as the whole Juno relaunch series, and i hate the fact that Roland seem to have pointed all the fans at their golden age products and keep throwing diarrhea at them.

Granted the looks aren't bad, but the concept stinks to high heaven....

Re: new Jupiter 80

Seriously though, some of the sounds (in other videos) are pretty impressive.  Seems like an improved V-Synth.  It's just an easy target because Roland is using the "Jupiter" name.  I'm sure no one here expected Roland to roll out a new analog super synth.

Oh come on, this is easy: WHERE ARE ALL THE FUCKING KNOBS AND SLIDERS?

How can you call something a performance instrument when you have to spend 6 months learning the user interface then go menu diving in the jungle of Roland's UI just to tweak any parameters.

The v-synth has a decent engine and is respected by many, but it also has twice as many front panel controls. For this kind of money, you should get more usability and less nostalgia.

If the Jupiter line is supposed to be the deluxe, top-level synth, then where are the absolute deluxe features? What makes this stand out from anything else these days, let alone from Roland's own product line?

Maybe it seem deluxe compared to the Juno-G lol

Re: new Jupiter 80

It's like the new VW Scirocco... doesn't even look remotely close to the old models, but they chose the name because they thought it would be good promo...

Re: new Jupiter 80

What's the obsession with the d-beam?

Re: new Jupiter 80

Omitting the D-Beam Controller would mean Roland confesses that it's useless... so I guess it's here to stay
