Re: What new booty have you acquired?

yeah it is nice, but i have thinked about adding a filter cv input for it..but after googling for it it seems that no one has made one before?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

It's the same as for the Cs-5, I've seen that mod a few times, there's probably info on the web somewhere.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

My tech did cv filter control for my CS10 when he put in the sub osc mod (highly recommended btw, gives it a lot more grunt: http://yusynth.net/MyOldGear.html).

I haven't actually used it but I think from what I remember it was pretty straightforward, though on mine the resonance is reverse, ie more is less. If you like I can ask him for the details...

EZ1084 EQ finished. (well, I still need to decide on knobs and get them on to be 100%... but it's all working and ready to screw the lid down)
I'm really loving it for synths. It's a very nice EQ.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Alright now that I've calmed down a bit...

I bought a Moog Source off Ebay. Canadian sale, no customs yay.

I give the seller explicit instructions on how to pack it. Have had problems with dented rack ears and poorly packed stuff lately with Ebay sellers.

It shows up on my doorstep not even in a damn box. Canada Post has it there for probably 3-4 hours before I went home to put it inside.

I check my emails again. To see if I gave him all the wrapping instructions and left out putting it in a box. As he's a noob.

Nope I told him to put it in a box.

I get irate, yet open it carefully. It's hotter than the fucking sun. But I plug it in and turn it on anyway. I let it warm up (lol) for about ten minutes then play around with it for a few minutes.

Miraculously no cosmetic damage, everything seems to be ok. But will give full test tonight after I get home from work and the family is asleep.

It was just serviced before it was sold so the sound and tuning was marvelous. Everything sounded very great. Very happy.

Seller not being a jerk, said he will take it back if there's anything wrong with it BUT SERIOUSLY WHO DOESN'T PUT A SYNTH IN A BOX? ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING TOLD TO?

Thank christ the thing is made out of metal and wood. If it was made of plastic it probably would have cracked, shattered or melted.

I think this is it. The synth gods have given me their final warning. No more buying synths and stuff from Ebay. Message boards and people with reps only. I'll still sell synths on Ebay because I know how to pack.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

that's crazy, where was it shipped from?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Montreal. Should have asked you to go help him fucking pack it. Or at least inspect. Geez...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Not in a box??  How was it shipped?  Was it just wrapped in craft paper or something?

Glad it didn't end up getting trashed.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

No box is pretty bad.   Good thing it survived.   Buying gear online is a jungle, but unless your absolutely minted or well hooked up it's pretty unavoidable as far as I can tell.  I can't really think of a message board that would work for where I live, so I'm pretty much stuck with ebay.    I guess you just have to be vigilant, though often it is still makes no difference as in your case with no box man.  What really bugs me is people knowingly misrepresenting the condition of gear.  And it seems to happen all the time.  Like everyone has been burnt before so they just don't give a shit and it's a free for all.

A recently bought and Esq-1 and repeatedly grilled the guy about it's condition.   "A+ totally clean and perfect working order" he told me.  Well, when it arrived I basically had a restoration job on my hands.  There was even a dead moth lodged inside the broken pitch wheel.  Terrific!   big_smile

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Well I've gone over absolutely everything you can with a Source and everything works. And I love the shit out of it. I'd been thinking between the Source and Little Phatty for awhile as they're about the same price and am glad I went with the more vintage Source. I like it way better than a cheap Voyager RME I had for a few weeks before I flipped it. Way nicer, bigger tone then the RME not to mention of course it's classic sync.

As per my request he first put it in a garbage bag, wrapped it in a few layers of bubble wrap and then taped the shit out of it. And that's it. Not following my last instructions to tightly pack it in a box so that it didn't move around during shipment. It had about ten fragile stickers on it so Canada Post probably took some care with it. Or at least didn't stack shit on it.

So I guess it's still better at the end of the day then having it then be put in a loose box getting banged around. But I did read my emails and did say to him to pack it tightly in a box after he had wrapped it.
