Topic: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

And I mean the system marked as #10 in this page:

http://www.buchla.com/series200e.html

My question is partly a provocation and partly really serious...

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

No, I don't like the sound of the new Buchla 200e stuff and I like having more than one type of synth.

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

Hell no, a buchla is nice but all you can do with it is make obscure drone or tv commercial noises, it doesnt have any house organs and most important of all its not polyphonic I guess. It will be a grandiose object to have but worthless to make any songs (you be better of with a 20$ Roland MT32 and some shitty drummachine)

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

no, its a bit too non musical... totaly 100% fantastic noise maker.. but you need more than that (well a few bits)..

+++ Dont be scared honey, thats just the resonance knob +++

$49,950.00??  Sweet jumping jesus on a pogo stick...even if I did sell all the instruments I have, I'd still barely make a dent in that price.

That's a no for me as well.

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

lol no way. too many vactrols.

don't get me wrong, the buchla is absolute cutting edge synthesis and module design; however, i prefer having a musical instrument over opaque space shuttle controls.

however, if someone offered me a music easel...

mono-poly - i'm aware of almost all available modules. it's irrelevant. all i'm saying is that the look & feel of the music easel is much more interesting to me than the layout and layers of complexity in the 200e series.

no i wouldn't pay 30k for one, but it's an item of desire unlike the 200e.

Well i'm really glad owing a combination of 100 200 and 200e modules.
The Easel is nice but super hyped and mythical also.

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

so far Ive seen about Buchla stuff looks like a super musical instruments to me, more musical than same old boring pre-patches on cheap keyboard shit.. Problem is not the machine but most people lacking imagination and musical skills or just getting lost in wierd noises and so I guess. I would love to have one but would never trade in my studio for just one synth/instrument. Also prices are insane imo..

KAI TRACID has one ... maybe it´s a propper trance machine...

i think it´s designed for freaks who want to own something really special in the studio - nothing for people who want to be productive....

Hell no. Especially for a 200e which doesn't seem to be my thing.

I love my Modcan A and Serge but wouldn't sell the rest of my fun stuff to buy more of it either.

Lots of nights you need that JD990, Octave Cat SRM, Microkorg, Casio CZ5000 for when you don't feel like having your hands in spaghetti all night. Or at least I need the more conventional things around.

no seriously - what do you find noteworthy about the melodies in that buchla 200e soundcloud track?

the drums are 3rd rate loops and the timbral quality of the melodic lines is generic at best. all i hear is a small amount of boring modulation and waveshaping that could equally come from dozens of other synths that cost much less and are easier to get interesting sonic results.

Re: Would you sell all the instruments you have for a Buchla 200e?

If you would have read the track dscription you would have known the drums are not Buchla at all.

Like i said i'm done with this childish stuff about how overrated a buchla is and how easy all stuff can be done by a $50 synth.
