It's indeed that one, I really love it so far, haven't finished it yet. The Elementary Particles is also on my shelve, that's the next one. I've read a bit too much non-fiction lately so it's fun to read books like that now. I would really like to read his poetry but it's practically unobtainable here in Belgium, I've already searched for it in every book store the last two years.

I don't know about this one, but Elementary Particles is just part fiction. Mostly it's a reply to Foucault's "History of Sexuality", and it deals with it in part by fiction and part by journalistic analysis. Same with Platform, which is a like an appendix to Elementary Particles, dealing with a specific question raised in it, namely sex tourism.

There's a lot of speculation, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. Still good though.

Nice short book on how the prison system is outdated and how it is a racist / sexist institution to this day. I'm sure the UK isn't much better but a lot of the stats on American prisons are pretty appalling. That place is fucked up.

as a philosophy it's true -- but this guy argues that before reaching nirvana (existential death) buddhists have to practice "right action" or behave nicely/ karma.  most are in it as a religion

Sounds like pure horror.

Honey, in the morning the bees are singing and the birds are stinging in an open head surgery.

Somehow the guy makes it interesting enough. The only real issue I have is with the Apple fetishism. Annoying. For his contributions, William Gibson gets a pass on this one.

Any good so far? Been wanting to read something by him for a while now. Wikipedia describes his work as humorous and surreal, with themes like loneliness and alienation. Sounds very promising smile
