Re: What new booty have you acquired?

It had batteries inside, replaced them with new ones (while the unit was on), erased one of the insane patterns (that basically had every single step full of something), shut down the machine, powered up, went to the pattern I just had made and the same thing happened, my pattern was erased and gone bonkers. Bummer.

Single Avantone Mixcube for 'second opinion' on mixes

CRACKED BY MR. Z...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

TR-727 seems to have memory now! A buddy of mine opened it up and we noticed that a chip preserving the memory was a bit out of place probably not giving good contact. After pushing it back and giving the 727 a little clean-up everything runs smooth. Now it needs a tempo knob!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Monotribe... for €135 you can't really go wrong. Maybe not great for leads pads or basslines, it does some great spastic sounds

Right now i'm only using it on drums in "post" mode as an insert effect. It's really nice, more than i expected. Filter sounds great, it is warm and squelchy, there are a lot of modulation options. Lfo is fast enough for some fm effects. I like reverb on 808 drums, it work best on edgy, short sounds. Springs are short so i it wont give you smooth long decay. My only complaint is a little bit of hum and buzz on reverb when volume is cranked up but spring reverbs usually hum. Anyone interested should listen to the demos on vermona site i think they show potential of this funky little box.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

@stalker: why not pick up a real tape delay instead of the Capistan?

I thought about it many times but buying vintage stuff is risky especially here - reapairs/calibration cost fortune and it's hard to find someone who can do it properly. In past i had no luck with other unrepairable vintage gear so now i'm cautious. RE 201 in perfect condition cost here 700 euros - too much for me. On the other hand i heard only good things about el capistan and generally strymon pedals like it's much better then re-20, the best emulation of tape echo ever etc. It haven't arrived yet so i can't tell if this is true. One day when i'm rich i will go for the real deal

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Some new stuff:
a kiwitechnics patch editor (works great for anyone who's wondering)
an allen & heath 16 channel mixer from the late eighties i think (real cheap, but really dirty when i bought it)
a vorg echo orbit tape echo (never heard of this before)
and a tascam portastudio 244. The studio and record room is almost done in the house  smile
