-> organisation and early kraftwerk is experimental rock made in germany (krautrock)...
but yeah, they should have used an earlier pic of kraftwerk.

so for the record, kraut is experimental ROCK...
always wondered why they call everythin  kraut or psychedelic rock
just because it's different?

so all you guyz paid for something that got cancelled? hmmm
lucky enough i kept my wallet closed

Would be foolish (of them!) not to give our money back, don't you think?

Going to contact them about it for sure...

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

@ kuczera
after reading the news here i immediately sent an e-mail to the shop i pre-ordered the book...
here the reply:

"I can confirm we have now cancelled and refunded the order for you as requested; please allow 1-3 working days for the transaction to go through."

so i guess it's no problem to get my money back.

.

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

Got message of refund also.

"Ja, ja gut aber leider kein italobuch..."
-> hey, how about the do-it-yourself thing, oz?

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

no, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Flemming..
I vaguely remember that it was someone who was doing some archeology or sth like that??

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

I've emailed the author. The book is still happening, just not for a while.
btw the cover with the Sabadell record was put together for promotion by the publisher.

"Ja, ja gut aber leider kein italobuch..."

=> Would love too. It would probably turn out like much DIY-projects: lots of enthusiasm but performance unprofessional. smile You could do the artwork-department which would be in more trusty hands then. wink

->and wasn't there someone on the cbs who wanted to write one, back in the days?
=> Remembering something about that too (although vaguely). On the (more hardcore italo disco forum)  Euro-Flash.net they're discussing about making an italobook for ages already:
http://www.euro-flash.net/forum/viewtop … 00c594912f It would really be "hardcore" if it ever gets realized...I think.

@hysteric
Thanks for asking him. There's still hope....

Thanks Scarface!

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

Got my copy yesterday. I think it is just "ok". But for 30 euro shipped to Canada I am perfectly fine with it. As mentioned often, indie books are expensive to get made. Only larger print runs can bring down the cost.

As a package with DVD it is much better than just the book by itself. I really enjoyed the DVD. What I want to see in these kinds of books are interviews, stories, gossip. Insider stuff. Things I can't find anywhere else. Not to be mean, but this book is kind of like gathering all the information you can from Discogs and the internet and barfing it onto paper with no context or connection to anything. It's like reading appendicies of a much larger book.

But I enjoyed it and appreciated it. While the Piers Martin book may end up more polished I doubt it will be anymore informative.

Maybe I will give this to my boy when he's 12 or so and school him good.

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

it looks like my geography textbook from secondary school.

text is descriptive at best.

dvd is physical flickr account.

big opportunity missed tbh.

and seriously overpriced.

pig in a poke.

sold.

will trade for €25. ono.

Re: Piers Martin's Italo book

That's a shame on the book... I previously heard as much, thus ignored.

Would like to see a glossy, coffee table number with lots of rustic photos & commentary.  As mentioned, some interviews, and facts that simply cant be pulled from Google would be nice...not simple as a theres a lot of stuff published, but thats the whole point of a book.

I'm sure there's many people with resources out there that can collaborate for a beast of a book...
