Wireless means having more crap sitting on your wrist or hand (like a LiPo battery), more latency and more chances of missed notes due to radio interference. I wanted this as sleek and comfortable as possible.
That said, Prototype 3 may be wireless. I'll see after I suss it out after touring with this.

I'm really curious about the results. Next time we hang out I would like to talk about this in depth. 
Speaking of the Power Glove, the flex sensor I use is the same as the one that Nintendo used (made by Spectra Symbol).

So here's a first test of my visuals setup.
I whipped up something quick in Java using Processing.org. A pico-laser projector is mounted a couple of feet in front of me.
This first set of image fragments is subtle... still experimenting with images and learning how to play this crazy instrument:

Wasn't there something like that already by Doepfer somewhere in the nineties? Just remember seeing a 2nd hand auction of it.
@score100: lots of people have done midi gloves, I'm definitely not the first. However, every one I've seen is bulky and horrible to wear - or a musical nightmare. The one you're referring to is the Doepfer Mogli interface that lets you use a Nintendo Power Glove to generate midi, which is not my idea of comfort.
Instead I wanted something that's almost as light and flexible as my skin.
What's new here is that I'm slowly incorporating a framework for interpreting gestures in a musical, performance-oriented way.
Most instruments are about "playing the right notes". In this case, my gestures also control the musical relationships between the notes that I can choose, and eventually will be able to generate controlled melodies and harmonies so I can play, for example, bass and lead at the same time - but each synth will be receiving different notes depending on how I move, what scale I selected, etc.
The visual feedback is also somewhat new. It's a weird attempt at creating a visual metaphor in place of what you would normally see & experience when watching someone perform with a traditional instrument.
That said, I'm indifferent about people looking at me when I perform. I guess I thought it would be trippy to have some kind synesthesia-inducing presentation. Some people are visual, some aren't. For those that are, it's something to see during the parts of my set when I use it.

Well that's perfectly fine, I think it's great if you have both - the musical and the visual. Although I'd say the musical stays primary in a club situation, but I guess thats the visitors choice then.
I personally find a lot of electronical dance music live-acts not very exciting to watch,
since it's often hard to see any connection between the gear and the sound, unless you are a producer and happen to know the instrument. So there could be something more interesting to watch in a electronic music live-act then just someone twisting knobs, whatever it is that he/she's creating with it - visuals or sounds.

I was way outside of my comfort zone and completely overwhelmed by all the new things I had to keep track of and the musical decisions I needed to make.
As such, I need to concentrate more on MEANINGFUL melodic improvisation as well as proper musical passages that I can easily recall... you know, like a traditional instrument wink
Technically everything went OK. Looking forward to implementing my body-tracking system so the images stay on me as I move and I'll be able to loosen up more.
