Re: What new booty have you acquired?

yes paula is a different chip. it's a little more brute force like the sid compared to the ensoniq chip. the good thing about that is that you could do some neat hardware tricks with it, like make it work as a simple radio transmitter (thanks to the fact that you could do amplitude modulation between two channels and lock the two byte buffer into a loop and play it at the system clock freq) and construct a crude pseudo 16-bit output from two channels.

edit: and that's with zero cpu overhead ofcourse.

Monkey see, monkey do.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

how much was that moogerfooger btw?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

i didn't really get a deal on it--just bought it new for $240 with expression pedal included (might come in handy).  i never see the moog pedals going for cheap anyway.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

snagged a boss rph-10 analog phaser locally for $50.. uses the famous IR3109 chip.

anyone use any of the other boss micro rack series?  is the flanger any good?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

sweet.  i friend of mine has the pitch shifter/delay which is very cool.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I have the Boss microrack flanger, its a really good flanger, imo one of the best I've heard because it grabs the whole soundspectrum while not becoming metallic sounding...a very creamy flanger

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

that phaser is one of the very few things i ever regret selling..very good sounding thing!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

i got the boss micro rack reverb. the reverse and gated sounds are pretty choice on drums

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Is that the same reverb sound as in the MT-32?

What's better than a boss microrack flanger, 2 microrack flangers! You can sync and inverse the LFO, if you want to get a spatial flanger that sums to mono.
I've got one, no-fi has 2.
I've also got the RPH-10. Definitely good for the money, I reckon it's better than the pedal versions, it has a wider bandwidth and more control.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

word up for the boss microrack phaser & flanger massive!!!

I think they're both really great sounding units. considering how cheap they are to buy, and like BOB-SNARE says, you can do a lot of cool stuff with 2 of the flangers running off one LFO.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Anyway - today I got, in the post, a Mu-tron digital delay.

It's a weird little fella. It's a rackmount device, but about one and a quarter units high.

here's a photo the internet prepared earlier.....

Mine looks almost the same, but with a hole drilled in the front panel right above and centered over the delay select switches.... hmmm. I wonder how they were planning on modding it?

http://www.zshare.net/audio/17739020f1994762/ I don't have my audio interface for a few days, so it may sound a bit rougher than "normal"

Just got it delivered after missing in the UPS factory for a few weeks!

can you make an mp3 really tweaking the knobs please, i'm still contemplating on getting the mods done.

Showing the way for the modern man to become a Model Man.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

yeah sure... keep in mind i only got the snare and bassdrum modified (i wanted to keep all the knobs on the box)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/17763251c23d48db/

I did a lil' auto compression but the bassdrum still gets pretty hot... and it's all coming from the main outputs, so it may sound a lil uneven.

I may add some grips or something to the mod knobs because they are kinda difficult to move... but i'm also clumsy.

I also put it through my cherry popper distortion pedal... serious sickness!!!!

syncing it up to my x-base is creating bass monsters from marssss can't wait to play some shows!!!
