AFS_0.14
Gosub - Mirror watcher
April 2013
Grey Marbled Vinyl 250 copies

http://abstract-forms.com/forum_jpegs/AFS014_LR.jpg

Gosub returns to Abstract Forms with a six track transmission. Mirror Watcher is a kaleidoscopic serve of elektroid attitude. Starting with the title track, a futuristic piece of synth-funk with a brilliantly sleazy vocal, immediately moving into deep aquatic territory, then building the pace back up for the encore of freaky fast paced electro. Sublime.

Federico Leocata - Zarathustra
May 2013
Vinyl 200 copies

Federico Leocata's latest experiment on Abstract Forms is stunning. Drawing inspiration from the experimental style and themes of recurrence in Nietzsche's “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” (1883-1885), Leocata's EP is hypnotic and seductive. The EP harks to the work of the legendary Gerald Donald in guises such as Heinrich Mueller, Der Zyklus and Japanese Telecom - awesome and unmistakably futuristic sounds with natural funk and a sense of wonder and enlightenment. Fantastic stuff.

AFS_LP.001
Various Artists - Datafunk v1.0
Vinyl with printed picture cover 300 copies
September 2013

http://abstract-forms.com/forum_jpegs/AFS0LP001_LR.jpg

Very special electro project 2 years in the making, featuring works from Ian Martin, Shemale, Federico Leocata, Das Muster, Obergman, Koova, Linear Synthesis (New project from Kobol Electronics and Heinrich Dressel), DMX Krew, Elec Pt.1 and DJ Stingray. Album mastered by Andrea Merlini from Kobol Electronics.

The idea of the first LP on Abstract Forms was simple - its an in-depth exploration of electro music, Interstellar Sounds summed it up perfectly in their review:

"Think Kraftwerk, Drexciya, Dopplereffekt and Bunker-style dark basement vibes all rolled into one neatly presented package and that's pretty much what is on offer here. A fine selection of tracks which successfully presents fresh sounds by tried-and-tested names, while simultaneously introducing upcoming and arguably lesser known, but by no means any less talented artists. Thoroughly essential for all electro fans out there."

Part 2 will be announced later in the year.

AACIDLP002 - The Exaltics - Das Heise Experiment
June 2013
Vinyl 300 copies / CDr (includes 2 bonus tracks) 100 copies

http://abstract-forms.com/forum_jpegs/AACIDLP002_LR.jpg

The Exaltics have been rippin'-up the acid vibes for some time now, gathering momentum from the efforts and hard work of imprints such as Solar One Music, Transient Force, Last Known Trajectory, Bunker and Panzerkreuz and of course more recently Crème Organization, Trust and now Abstract Acid. As such, the time has come for a full-length acid project, entitled 'Das Heise Experiment' which originates from The Exaltics' desire to take things a notch deeper, while pushing the acid a step into more menacing and quite devilish territory. For those that appreciate such dastardly dark styles, well, you will not be disappointed with this album. Coarse acid coupled with sublime soundscapes and ubiquitously haunting melodies make for the perfect combination. Limited edition vinyl pressing and special CDr with two bonus tracks.

Re: Soon on Abstract Forms/Acid (Exaltics, DJ Stingray, DMX Krew + Others)

yeah exciting program, very promising.
But please put INNERSLEEVES in your records !
Got the Ekman last month : unfortunalty lots of surface noises/pops/crackles. I remove a lot of paper/cardboard dust on the record, still a lot of surface noises (perharps because it's a white vinyl ?).
A shame because it's a great record, i love this kind of "minimal electro" à la Pametex/I-f Fucking Consumer-Man from PACK.

Re: Soon on Abstract Forms/Acid (Exaltics, DJ Stingray, DMX Krew + Others)

Thanks for your feedback, that is strange. I ordered standard factory disco sleeves which don't come with inners. Plenty of labels use these without problems so maybe your copy was stored badly or was a 'shop' copy that was mishandled. I'll look into it though, thanks.

Thanks for the answer.

No, very often records without innersleeves come dirty, because don't forget there are stocked in stores for some weeks, then the transport takes 2-4 days (or even more) to come in buyer's home. For me, a record can take 1 month between the day i ordered and the day i got it !
For example, every (new) SD records (without innersleeves) come full of paper/cardbord dusts.

Nice review from Juno that sums up the release perfectly:
Nietzschian explorations of the electro template abound on Zarathrusta, the first release on UK platform Abstract Forms for the prolific Italian audio visual artist Federico Leocata. Naturally drawing inspiration from Friedrich's most recognisable philosophical tome, Leocata also looks to the iconic discography of Gerald Donald for this six track 12". Indeed, it would be hard to draw from the classic Detroit electro sound without taking in elements of Donald's work as Heinrich Mueller or Der Zyklus, yet Leocata successfully veers past mere pastiche thanks to the fact his own take on the Utopian vision is just so hypnotic and seductive.
