Topic: Synth power blown??

Hey, the adapter for my Darkstar XP2, please no jokes bout it hmm , may have blown out the synth. Plugged it in, powered on and all the lights flashed at once. Now it doesn't power on and no alternate adapter does the job. Any fixes, ways to figure out the issue? May need to bring it in somewhere for closer inspection...

Re: Synth power blown??

My first guess would probably be that the fuse has blown out.

Re: Synth power blown??

Ok, now how to tackle this? Steps, advice, leave it to the experts?

Re: Synth power blown??

...hej as far as you have used the wrong power adaptor there is hope......just open the synth and check inside the board near to the power connector....maybe you will see some "blown" parts like diodes, caps... if not - you will need to measure the voltage traces straight from th evoltage connector as shown in the shematics!

Orgel!

Re: Synth power blown??

Hey, I actually used the XP2's power adapter. I'll open it up and take a look. Regarding the voltage traces etc, that is beyond me and may have to pass on to a pro. Appreciate the reply and will open up this thing!

Had a new Yamaha adapter tucked away, a few higher in voltage, and presto it works.  cool
