They were sold exclusively from the Bordello A Parigi website. A crazy run on them, cause already sold out unfortunately.

600% markup from label partner is just plain vulgar, whatever about the other opportunists

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

I've asked David to take it offline; I don't understand it either and feel a bit ashamed. Though I'm sure he is not out to earn any money from it...

The limited discussion is something else, but I'm happy to explain the reason with this specific record which is actually really a small niche type of track and in demand of a small group of enthousiasts. The number of copies is born from only sympathetic reasons and being more like a DJ tool, Moustache X Bordello fun project, instead of larger run re-issue like TOY, Ein-St-Ein, D. Carred with picture cover and additional unreleased tracks. That it sells out that quick: mixed feelings...but in the end it's nothing to brag about if I read feedback from dissappointed supporters/potential customers. It's all about make as much people happy with the product and sitting on less as possible records in the end. I think a lot people act fast with buying the record because it's limited...that's a good thing from a label point of view so you can earn your investment back on time to press up the next release. Pressing more copies = less urge of buyer. Etc.

Anyway...

...some positive news!

Coming up in January:

Rude 66 - The Kill
Mario Moretti - Spaziotempo
Aldo Bergamachine - Astromoog

Thanks for the support/feedback,

Otto

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

Thing is though...these records aren't ending up in the hands of enthusiasts, they're ending up in the hand of sharks & speculators. And Bordello is a label that is clearly targeted by those looking to make a quick buck, but that is the nature of the capitalist machine...and as you've sold all your records & made your money back, is there really an appetite from the labels to try and curb this?..i'm not sure.

Well, limiting the amount to 2/3 copies per customer could be a solution, but it won't avoid people selling their spare copy (and I can't max. to 1 copy if people want to share shipping costs overseas)...also the reselling market price is out of my hands (IF they sell their copies with these prices). Nevertheless the majority of the records is enjoyed by enthousiasts which makes it fun to release in the first place, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense to put effort in it at all.

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

After the Hot Girls fiasco the number of copies was not restricted?....in my opinion those buying multiple copies are only doing so to re-sell & gouge prices on discogs, and the only way around is to restrict to 1 per customer...and for those shipping abroad that's just tough...if it's for the benefit that more real enthusiasts would get a copy, i'd shell some extra instead of the sharks getting them.

What's clear is those folk on discogs aren't putting their profits into releasing more records or doing anything positive, they'll be gobbling up even more releases and gouging prices further and so the cycle continues. If it were my label, and bitches were making money from my efforts...i'd be pissed off.

Perhaps im being naive and idealistic, but this cycle of people buying ltd releases only to re-sell on discogs minutes later is nauseating and depressing. sad

you'd better get used to it because it's happening in every genre now. It's nothing exclusive to Bordello releases and the label owner shouldn't have to make any explanation for that.
People see an opportunity to make fast money and they take it.. only way to stop it is not buy from them.
Record store day releases are the perfect example. RSD exclusives appear on discogs the same day as released at jacked up prices.

also have to confess I sold a Hot Girls on discogs...

/sorry for off topic!

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

I'm well aware that this happens across all genre's(it's nothing new) and clearly targeting hype labels & limited release's, then bumping them on discogs/jacking prices is a business model for some people, that doesn't mean i have to like nor inquire about alleviating the situation.
As you've just demonstrated Hysteric, everyone is at it...out to make a quick buck, it seem to be acceptable. And where a solution of limiting customer orders, there is no appetite from the label to do that either, so long as they sell the copies...who cares.
Buy a CDJ...download files & screw the vinyl market, that's the solution.

me too. and i'm not ashamed. why? a friend of mine bought by accident 2 copies (he bought the release, and the italo package). I told him a fellow robot on this board missed it. prices on discogs were €60 at that time.
he got it for € 10 + shipping.

robots for robots  cool

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

I'm betting hysteric didn't sell his for 10 bucks..

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

I think robots should really calm down on this issue.

Yes, it is a little pathetic for David to sell the record basically on the day it was released for almost 10x the price. But how can you blame people in general for taking upon the opportunity to make some money? Next time get 10 copies for yourself and sell them for a nice price on Discogs ;-)

As far as the Bordello a Parigi is concerned, you cannot blame them for what happened whatsoever. It's totally obvious that they're putting a huge amount of work into the label and into bringing us plenty of top notch releases. It's not their aim to rip off fans and customers, so please get over it.

Having said all that, I would personally also prefer if strictly limited releases like Hot Girls / Jenny would be limited to 2 or 3 copies per buyers. But think about it: just place multiple orders to different addresses - if you sell each record for a multiple of the original price then you probably don't care about the extra shipping either.

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

Oh and what Hysteric said: Putting a record for sale on Discogs doesn't mean it's getting sold. As far as Jenny is concerned, there's not even a sales history yet.

And the 1000€ record from David doesn't look like a serious offer to me. Why would anyone pay 1040€ extra for the "coolest poster in it last copy ever"?

Re: Upcoming Bordello A Parigi releases

the poster inside isn't cool btw big_smile
