Re: Dark Science Electro PREMIERE

For our next premiere, we look to a small label south of France called @House-Plants-Records. For their third ever vinyl release, they have enlisted the 27-year-old Parisian new-comer producer calling himself @Entrave.

With influences ranging from Autechre to Drexciya to E.R.P., all the way to vintage sounds like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, this producer brings a sonic palette that you will, no doubt, be familiar with. His production journey started 4 years ago and has been fueled by the sounds of gear like Acidlab Miami, an x0xb0x, a Korg Poly-61, Dreadbox NYC and various VSTs like SH-101, SH2 and JX3P.

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is the reverb-drenched final track on the release entitled 'Nebul4e'. For me, the track stood out on the record for its familiar approach to Electro themes while at the same time providing enough variation in the track's 4-minute run to make it sound fresh. Wandering volume levels modulating within the melodic sections of the track add to the spacey feel of the composition while 808 drums hold it all together.

Release date: March 15th

For this premiere we look to a long-time Electro-purveyor @Komarken-Electronics with a new project that he calls @Kleansounds

After making music for more than 12 years as Komarken Electronics, he came to a creative crisis in early 2018. He felt that he needed a fresh start and so KLEAN was born. He intends on releasing all of the music produced under this project on his own and all digitally. The production process is centered around the 'Elektron Octatrack' which is used as a sampler and sequencer for a few selected hardware synths. During the creative process he focuses as much of his attention as possible on the machines themselves and strays from looking at the computer screen as much as possible.

The track selected to premiere on @DarkScienceElectro is the short (but sweet track) 'MXRdriveLooP'. The track is a machine-funk approach that is as complicated as it is long, however, the track itself isn't short on character with its punchy bass, Dopplereffekt-esque synth stabs, and an overall feel that left me wanting more. Thankfully, the rest of the album shines as well, with the artist bucking the standard Komarken Electronics approach to dark Electro and branching into more uplifting feeling, broken-beat music. This album arrives on March first and can be purchased at the link below:

Our next premiere comes to us courtesy of the legendary Austrian label @TRUST who already have 35 vinyl releases under their belt beginning in 1998. Their newest effort comes from another Vienna-based duo calling themselves @MICROTHOL. The track selected by @DARKSCIENCEELECTRO to premiere is the doom-laced track 'Dissonanz'. This track absolutely shines on this release for its clever use of percussive modulation and interesting approach to melody, using mostly the bass line and industrial screeches/sweeps to give creepy, ambient body to the track while vocoders weave in/out of the track.

For this premiere we look to an old German colleague of mine, @Thomas-Kress, where we will be checking out his track from an upcoming VA comp on Robotmachine Records.

'Robotmachine Records' was founded in 2010 by Dynamik Bass System and has since released 17 offerings ranging from . The label's goal is to expose new talents within the Electro and Technobass music scene. The label finds a great balance between retro and future. With this release we look at the 'Elektro Süd Project' which is a series started by south German Electro producers Dynamik Bass System, Supremeja, Thomas Kress, and TecRoc. This project is also meant for the support of German-specific artists.

The track selected to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro is called 'Show Me'. Thomas Kress is a musician, producer and designer from Munich and has been producing music since the mid 90's with releases on Tropical Underground and Robotmachine Records. He uses a hardware approach to production with Digitone/Rev2 for FM synthesis and sound effects as well as Model D and Moog Mother-32 for bass sounds. The track itself was performed live and captured in Logic Pro.

For this installment of @DarkScienceElectro premieres, we look to the label @Lunar-Orbiter-Program for their 3rd premiere, this time for @cem3340cem3340

This new vinyl release features 6 hard-hitting tracks and one apropos intro track. As stated in a previous premiere @cem3340cem3340 produces music using only vintage gear and was happy to share that this release was composed using the 808, SH-101, Juno 60, Mono/Poly, Juno 106, Pro One, Korg Polysix, Trident, and the Jupiter 6. You can absolutely hear the analog tinge throughout the album as well as all his productions overall. The song that was selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is called 'Glissando'. On this track, the Pro One-produced bass line absolutely stuns when combined with the quickly attacking arpeggio coming from the SH-101. This track and others on this record will become available on April 13th.

For this @DarkScienceElectro premiere, we will be taking a listen to a track from a new release from one of my personal favorite Electro artists of all-time. @MetaComplex

The track selected to premiere from his new, self-released album is the opening track entitled 'Blue Light District'. Sauntering in at 121 beats per minute, this track has the melancholoy glaze that fans of MetaComplex have grown to love. A straight-forward approach to percussive traits leave the track open to be drenched in beautiful soundscapes filled with perfectly crafted delays and swooping pads. The rest of the album is absolutely stunning and comes highly recommended by @DVS NME

Aquatronics is an up-and-coming artist that has chosen to keep their identity hidden for the time being. The track 'Frequency' is a low-key Electro jam remindful of early Boris Divider on Drivecom - Simple pads seesaw over the track, creating an eerie vibe while the rhythm on the track does all the heavy lifting. Check out the premiere track now.
