Maybe a little bit to 'clean' but not bad.

Re: Gabber

Freek is the new Gabber.

Do it your way, because everyone else is just weird.

Re: Gabber

Although I mostly listen to the old gabber music (1992 - 1994) I like this one:

Re: Gabber

My mates here in Sheffield  are bang into the kind of new school hard techno that producer and hellfish make. The best people I've heard are DJ Dolphin and SPL. Dolphin has been playing at UK hardcore raves for years, but has now reworked his live sets around a computer and is quietly knocking out some of the best laptop sets I have ever heard, in any genre. Dunno if you would really call it gabba as it's closer to the kind of D&B that Hidden does, but its really brilliantly put together pure adrenelin music. Here's his myspace:

The DJ Producer mix Operation Obliterate is a top intro to this music.

Operation Obliterate kicks ass
producers and hellfish were always quality
any dolphin set links pls?

Re: Gabber

Nah I've had a look before and there's not really much out there - some of his 90's hard acid sets make it online every now and again but more recent stuff is rare.

The mix archive from my friends club is here:

Dolphin played in December but his mix isn't up there unfortunately. The Macheen Boi and Distorted Panda ones are worth checking though.

Re: Gabber

I'm not really interested in hardcore as a genre but I do love hardcore acid a lot like Lasse Steen, Zekt, some Woody McBrides, Mike Dred, Drop Bass stuff, some on Neurotrope etc.
Got the Rusha ep from UM too now, hard kicking and banging record WITHOUT acid but a very good one. Always loved Pitch hiker too:

"A Real Music Hater"

yes! everything lasse steen and zekt did in the mid-late 90's was brilliant... very sad i sold most of that stuff off in the early 00's...

Re: Gabber

I still have all that stuff, I love to play that. I'll always be an acidhead tongue

"A Real Music Hater"

Re: Gabber

For me the ultimate proto-gabber track is from Belgium, 1983: The Maniacs - He Hates To

It has all the ingredients that i used to like about gabber in the very very beginning: the retarded, sick maniacal vocals over  mindnumbing destorted bassdrums and frenetic hi-hats. Even that initial laugh sounds familiar to some of the classic tracks.

Re: Gabber

I guess you have to add that this is The Klinik, isn't it. Well, I wouldn't call that Proto-Gabber. It's just nonsense music, isn't it?

Europa has burned, and will burn again

Re: Gabber

why? it's pre-klinik anyways. i wouldnt call it nonsense music in a literal way, only in a figural way. it's 100X better than the shit that hit the fan ten years later IMO.

Re: Gabber

I never liked hardcore stuff much, I guess the closest I get is the hard acid. There is something cheesy about the whole hardcore thing that makes me cringe. Stuff like this I can handle though:

robots.for.robots

Re: Gabber

The Gabber-fase didn't leave me untouched: I even like(d) it! It has a lot of humor which I can very much appriciate. The more serious stuff I find too sad mostly. Thunderdome Vol 2. stays in my collection: hardcore forevaaaaah big_smile

"Are you loving?"

Here is something special for the ones that like PCP...

Video footage of the infamous PCP show at the Mayday party in 1993.

Re: Gabber

probably too soft compared to the stuff on here but this was on uk rave comps back in the day

can't believe no other smart ass hasn't posted this:

cuties don't exert

Re: Gabber

gabber & hardcore are 2 seperate things.

Early gabber wasnt that hard/fast at all, just deep MKS50 shit like Holy Noise and such.

Gabber was just a nickname for the Feyenoord Hooligans then went to the clubs dozed up on speed and rohypnol
