Topic: blaxploitation soundtracks

hi,

I'd like to get some soundtracks of blaxploitation movies from the 70s.

hhv.de offers many of them as repress, for example http://www.hhv.de/item_65037.html
does anyone know something about the quality of those releases?

I also need recommendations for good soundtracks.

thanks

Re: blaxploitation soundtracks

The Spook who sat by the door from Herbie Hancock is pretty good but my favorite is Bare Knuckles OST though, amazing tunes on that one

Technically is that still blaxpoitation...(most of the actors are white) maybe not the movie but the music is!

Re: blaxploitation soundtracks

the soundtrack to Three Tough Guys is good

Re: blaxploitation soundtracks

I'm looking for this kind of soul/funk in general...the spook who sat by the door is already on my list...bare knuckles sounds nice too

I think that I just have to order some and see how good the quality is

thanks for the tips so far

Re: blaxploitation soundtracks

try : willie hutch - the mack
       willie hutch - foxy brown
shaft - big score and four tops shaft in africa

i purchased the foxy brown reissue some years ago and i can't say it's a great sounding press
better buy the orginal

also well recommended : cleopatra jones, superfly, truck turner, short eyes, troubleman, blackula
etc etc

also we dutchies did some kind off funky (blax)ploitation :

dunno, foxy brown just doesn't sound great
i have good reissues too
they are cheap and comparing them to org. pressings it's peanuts

i like to buy my soundtracks original ( don't we all? )
but when it comes to reissues (180 gram) like dagored i'll rather buy them on cd
especially the silent ones
for example my goblin - suspiria has noise only from sliding it into the sleeve
and it's heavyweight vinyl
